  8. I fabricated parts of my story to make my adventure seem more adventurous than it actually was. In reality, I was just as alone as I am when I am home. Sometimes traveling isn’t all that we crack it up to be in our minds. My trips are never as redemptive as I would like them to be, but that does not stop me from trying on the next trip.

  9. She made it up. Every ounce. Every fiber. Every tingling hair on the back of their necks. It was all fabricated. And she told the all, whirling around, frantic with regret and no means to take it all back.

  10. People are facetious. Their egos are inflated, their outward appearances and displays of apparent aesthetic are often fake. Their words are lofty, while some may be articulate and others not so, they are often an inflated version of what they really want to say. People have a hard time expressing themselves in a world where how you are to express yourself is dictated to you by powerful and overwhelming marketing. Appearances, desires, purposes, are fabricated. Words, phrases, promises, are fabricated.

  14. False. I could easily fabricate my whole life to you and you’d never know, as long as I used the right words and body language and conviction. Maybe life is just a fabrication of our own minds. Maybe believing this lie is the only way to stay sane?

  21. Prefabricated dreams housed on the landscape curl and fold in patterns that sprawl. The promised land, is it?

I need a break. Old dreams haunt me even when I’m awake. The curtains in the wide windows, I remember how they moved. Something lurked in the folds of fabric, I didn’t want to peek because it felt wrong. I quickly walked past it. But then I remember the touchscreen eye at the checkout counter, that dream of parting the lids open with thumb and forefinger. How I do remember it, how it still pulls at me to examine it. Maybe I will. What you fear most is probably worth exploring.

Conjured out of thin air and fed to other people like salami. Why am I thinking about salami? Because I’m a ninja princess, that’s why! I shall eat of the salami with many pickles, and the ponies shall join us! Will someone please tell me what I was talking about? Oh, yes. Fabricated.

“I know what you did,” one of my best friends said, as she looked at me with disappointed eyes. I braced for the lecture, and constructed my rebuttal. She had no idea what she was in for.

  30. I was walking through the hallways before I noticed it–just a small piece of paper which jutted from a locker. I shouldn’t have cared, but I did. I shouldn’t have stepped forward to grasp it…but I did. Although I didn’t feel anything as I lifted it up to my eyes, I knew something inside of me had changed.
When I read the words written in a masculine scroll, I knew without a doubt that I had accepted a mission without knowing it. That no matter what lie I fabricated, it was my duty to carry out the note’s message. I knew that this mission would change my life. Forever.

  31. My life is nothing more than a lie, fabricated by the stories I’ve been forced to live out.

  33. Walls fabricated by hopes and fears, dreams and wishes, stones and vines, roaring ocean waves. Some are solid, some are wet, some are pliable, some are invisible, many are not really there at all. We can create walls with our machines, our hands, our words, our thoughts–each time the fabrication of bricks and mortar grasp one another in a single mission, one of symbiotic cohesion. Some walls are meant to last forever, others are meant to vaporize upon sight. Some were never meant to be, and some are destined to crumble no matter how carefully they are tended.
