She burned the letters in the fireplace that night, watching the ink stained pages disappear into the hot flames and turn to ash. She sat there all night, until the fire was nothing more but burning embers. The years went by and the memories slowly began to fade and the tiny details began to fuzz over. The harder she tried to grasp it, the faster it slipped through her fingers. All the evidence was gone, and it was almost as if it had never happened.
But it did happen. She knew it did. Even when she couldn’t remember exactly what it was that happened anymore. And it was that certainty, that left her aching for something she couldn’t remember.

I long for a fireplace. With a comfy chair tucked into the corner. And table holding a beautiful lamp on it. The lampshade will be made of silk which softens the light that passes through it, perfect for curling up with a good book and reading.

The warmth of the fireplace reminds me of the warmth of the sun when the sun can’t be in the sky. It reminds me that there is sunshine in other parts of the world, and that warmth and light aren’t elements that I should be selfish with, because they make happiness an achievable goal.

Fireplace is the centre of a dining room. When lit it fills the whole house with warmth. You must always hang your stocking above it at christmas for Santa!

fire place is where a fire is kept, they are usually good at containing fire but on the odd occasion the fire can leek and tends to spread very rapidly, fireplaces are connected to chimneys which release the smoke that comes from the fire.

The warmth of flames can still send a shiver up my spine; knowing that the fireplace was what brought us together. Where we lay wrapped in each other and I told you I loved you. I took such a risk telling you that, I was terrified that you’d be frightened by my forwardness, by the way it just slipped out when I was letting my guard down. The way you looked and me and squeezed me tighter. Then got up and left.

There’s a warmth there. It’s nothing major – nothing big, or splendid. Just a small and burning fire that consumes a little air and provides a little solace in return. Escape there, into the warmth. It’s no inconvenience.
