  1. what does it mean to invent? to me it means more than merely to continue the knowledge conquest that humans seem to be so obsessed with. to me it means to let your soul fly.. to release the fire inside you and see where it leads you. don’t be afraid to fail. jump in feed first. you might just like where you land.

  8. My dad has patents on things I don’t understand–
    big pieces of metal folded into accordions, but they don’t make any music.
    He used to try to explain, but I think he got tired, and rightfully so.

    I am proud of him, he is a better engineer than I can hope to be a writer.
    Sometimes I miss how loud the stereo in his truck would turn on that daily drive,
    all while we listened and sang along with songs I swore to my friends I hated.

  10. I would love to invent a machine to go back in time. I would visit all of world history to see how credible our sources are and to see how different or similar life really was at different periods of time. I also like to revisit periods of my life not to improve on anything, but just to enjoy the great moments I had.

His daughter’s name was Lucy and as pretty and resourceful as she was, he saw her only as a silly girl best left on her kitchen stool to sit.

  17. I think inventing things takes a lot of creativity and imagination. I highly admire people who are great and original inventors. It is a lot harder to do than one may think. Inventors are artists. They create an object or world that no one else has, and that is very challenging. I don’t think I could ever do that.

  22. why invent someone knew if you are already someone you want to be? there’s no point to it. i love being myself but everyone says that i need to be reinvented. i don’t want to be reinvented. it makes sense right? i love myself and if you love yourself then that’s all that matters.   23. The inventor creates himself just as he creates the fantastic mechanical automatons that litter his unkempt workshop. Everyday he gathers into his spindly limbs ideas and possibilities and from these he constructs himself a soul.

  36. Inventing is a difficult tasks. I once tried to invent something cool. It didn’t work. Someone invented some chairs that are made of grass. They grow from your lawn. Only problem is how the fuck to your mow your lawn then? huh? Also, won’t the grass get a little bothered with people sitting on it all the time.

A “renaissance man” was known to be, among other things a great inventor. One of the most important inventors was Leonardo Da Vinci who came up with ideas that were used far after his time. Inventions help shape the world around us.

  39. I wanted to invent a different life when I was younger. I imagined that mine was exciting- that I was an animal who lived in the forests, mostly alone. Or with friends. Often, I was a wolf or a horse, as they were my favorite creatures.
    Now I know that’s not possible. Instead, I don’t invent my own acts and monologues and staging, and sing along with what other people have written for me. Instead, I invent character.

  40. I reinvented myself. I became someone that I knew no longer- my past was gone, my future was lying open ahead of me. I invented a new mindset, new dreams, new goals- the most important thing I forgot to reinvent was the people around me. They slowed my process, and I’m back to square one.
