I reinvented myself. I became someone that I knew no longer- my past was gone, my future was lying open ahead of me. I invented a new mindset, new dreams, new goals- the most important thing I forgot to reinvent was the people around me. They slowed my process, and I’m back to square one.
I wanted to invent a different life when I was younger. I imagined that mine was exciting- that I was an animal who lived in the forests, mostly alone. Or with friends. Often, I was a wolf or a horse, as they were my favorite creatures.
Now I know that’s not possible. Instead, I don’t invent my own acts and monologues and staging, and sing along with what other people have written for me. Instead, I invent character.
To invent is to create something that has never been thought of before but has most likely been needed. Many great people invented. A “renaissance man” was known to be, among other things a great inventor. One of the most important inventors was Leonardo Da Vinci who came up with ideas that were used far after his time. Inventions help shape the world around us.
Inventors make things like the lightbulb. they kinda change lives. but maybe they dont make things better. maybe there are just making life more complex and harder. maybe i should invent something to make my life better. like a mind reader. or a machine where you can put your brian but still do pointless stuff like tv. and lose calories.
Inventing is a difficult tasks. I once tried to invent something cool. It didn’t work. Someone invented some chairs that are made of grass. They grow from your lawn. Only problem is how the fuck to your mow your lawn then? huh? Also, won’t the grass get a little bothered with people sitting on it all the time.

I would like to invent a toaster oven that transports me to my boyfriends closet. Then whenever I came over I would already have waffles made for him. I hate hearing “Bitch, go make me some waffles!”
I sat and thought and came up with nothing. My endless quest for innovation was slowly turning me mad. I had to create something new or I would be forever a failure.

Music is invented. One of the most beautiful that was invented by man. But it is inspired by God. I like music. In fact I love it. I really don’t know what to write about invent because I’m not an inventor. I love writing though.

My dad has patents on things I don’t understand–
big pieces of metal folded into accordions, but they don’t make any music.
He used to try to explain, but I think he got tired, and rightfully so.
I am proud of him, he is a better engineer than I can hope to be a writer.
Sometimes I miss how loud the stereo in his truck would turn on that daily drive,
all while we listened and sang along with songs I swore to my friends I hated.
