the observatory is open to the public every other thursday. you take the elevator to the fifth floor and climb a metal ladder to the room where they keep the telescope. it’s the highest point on campus. you can see all the streets sprawl out below you like the spokes of a spider’s web. the lights of the city bleach the edges of the sky and though the stars are a few stories nearer, they’ve never looked so far away.
Near me is where I have always wanted you. I still don’t understand why you left the way you did. I feel betrayed that you left me because you thought your other option was better. And My friend don’t you understand that no one should have to write their own end.

I walked by him to get to my spot on the field, and it was the first time in two months that we had been that close. As the breeze picked up his smell was wafted towards me, and it took my breath away. I could hardly breathe, hardly think; who knew after all that time of not seeing him, that being that near to him could still take my breath away.
I tried to write something creative, but all I can think is that the people outside are TOO NEAR MY WINDOW RIGHT NOW!!!
If it were a quiet celebration, I would enjoy it. I’d hang out, I’d buy stuff. Give me quiet festivals any day. Or move the music indoors…. nowhere NEAR me.
