  1. I nourished her broken soul with sweet, soft words that only she could hear. The symphony of words whispered were the only consolation she could find.

  2. It was the sustenance of the soul. The life that filled the world with light. It was breath. It allowed me to cross the dry desert and find the oasis, it allowed me to run across the tundra and not freeze, and it allowed me to fly to the moon, to the stars, and beyond time.

  3. Love me love me love me. It is time to nourish my soul, my heart, myself. I can only love you when I love myself fully. Let me learn to be kind, to be gentle to be honorable to be loyal. And I will start with myself in hopes that you will be here to witness, to receive, to inspire and to share.

  4. your body and soul. bathe in sunlight and love and know that you are enough. nourish your spirit with the knowledge that you have never been more glorious than you are this moment, right now, on the earth, under the sun, glowing, breathing, vibrant and alive.

  5. A tube fed into his arm, pumping a colorless fluid into his veins that kept him only just lucid enough to acknowledge our presences. His eyes were at half mast and dulled by pain and anger and undernourishment; I could count every one of his bones sticking out beneath his taught skin.

His fingers twitched slightly when I touched them. “Hang in there, Benjy,” I told him. “When you get out of here, I’m gonna take you out to dinner at that restaurant you told me about.”

  6. I will nourish and breastfeed you for the rest of my life – wife. Noob. This should be literary nourishment enough for today.

  7. We all need proper nourishment or else we all turn into rotten grumps who sit around and complain about how bad our day was, when in fact, if one had paused during said rant to look out the window and find that the sun was shining and the birds were singing and then come to the conclusion that today was not, to ones surprise, a rotten day.

  8. People say they can’t live without love, but it is not needed to nourish.

  9. It’s about time I nourished myself, instead of being a mama jay to the world and always chewing food for others. Even mamas are somebody’s baby, even mamas sometimes can’t chew all the rough pain given to them to swallow.

  10. Nourishment is something everyone needs. We get it in different ways, too. Through food, interaction with other people, love – sometimes through things we don’t need at all.

People sometimes blow the idea of nourishment out of proportion. “We’re going to nourish your soul, your stomach, your desire for material possessions, your attraction to adventure” – well, we always come away still hungry, don’t we?

maybe we could find a way to be equal and caring
    and maybe
    we could all just simple
    let the others be free
    and just nurture
    and nourish hem

  13. Opened mouth, dried teeth, sand in my belly. Lying on your back in the grass feeling like you’re not really a part of this world. Float penny light, far, far away. Dream you’ll never set foot on thrones or rough patches of grass.

  14. She wanted nothing more than to nourish the little creature nuzzling its way into her shoulder, but she knew deep down she didn’t have the means to feed another body.

  15. I’m going to open the packets and dump the little bits of life inside into some boiling hot water – make a mash of intimacy and pain that will keep me going for hours. I’ll wake up and capture some of the sunrise early on, so I can use that to sweeten the taste of bitterness and loss, which I’ve collected over the year. These little nourishments – they’ll sustain me, even if it tastes bad. No one ever likes the medicine they need.

  16. Nourishment. Passed from your mouth to mine in the dead of night to get read of the tears. Nourishment from your arms wrapped around me while we sit inside and wait for the rain to pass. Nourishment from your words you leave me on my phone in the morning, hoping to put a smile on my face. Your nourishment keeps me going, keeps me alive, keeps me breathing.

  17. “It will nourish my soul.” Madeline said, as she flipped her long dark hair to the side.
“Why do you have to use such verbose language?” For the life of me I could not understand this child.
“Why do you?” Madeline grabbed the pop tart out of the red toaster.
“Because I am 45. You, on the other hand are only 12.”
Madeline’s whining became louder. “Well, its true, if I go to this retreat it will nourish my soul and send me back refreshed.”
I stifled a laugh, these could only be words her father, my ex, had put in her mouth. “That or you will get in trouble with your boyfriend.”

She’d just stick to her own side of the world.

Beans, soup, anything. I grabbed as many as I could. I felt them clatter against my ribcage. Nourishment was to come.

  26. Nourish is more than feeding and keeping someone physically healthy. You need more than food and water to keep you alive. You need love, you need growth. You need the ability to move past things. Sometimes I don’t think I possess this ability. I get frightened and I dwell on things even though I hate it. I wish I could learn to move past it.
