  1. To learn and obey. Because youhad to obey. There were rules. There were always rules. Rules kept people safe. They helped people to grow. They defined the limits for everyone. If there were limits, you knew where you stood. If you knew where you stood, there was little risk of insulting others. You were safe. And safety was all in a place like this. Because if you weren’t safe, then terrible things could happen. Terrible, terrible things.

  3. To obey is to follow direction but what if it makes you unhappy? What if the direction you need to obey makes you so miserable? Do you still do it? I have no desire to do what will make me unhappy, for my goal is to be the happiest I ever can be.

  4. When Tae Kyung was little, all he could think about was being patient. Obedient. Being as quiet as possible, not making a sound, or else his mother would hurt him – or worse, ignore him all together. And no matter what, he hated that the most. So the least that he could do was obey her. To listen to her. To keep out of her way, so at least she would spare one moment – one second – to look at him. That was the only reason why. That would always be the only reason why he put up with her commands for so long.

The General continued, “It is sad but true that to be human is to obey, and to obey is war.”
“But to disobey is fear, and fear is the beginning of true freedom.” Nila added with the pride of a young disciple showing in her eyes.

  7. It hasn’t been as hard as I thought it would be to get my new puppy to obey me. Though the shelter said he came in as a stray, I think he was loved a lot by someone because he has been very easy to train.

I wonder if it was a dog they had to surrender because they couldn’t afford him any longer. That’s sad since he’s such a sweetie, but I guess good news for me since he’s now MY sweet pup.

  8. I will not obey the rules of the universe, for the universe is full of cracks, and black holes – consuming the essence of the galaxy. 13. I have spent so many years of my life inside that cast-iron box. Obey your parents. Look right, then left, when crossing a street. Read those instructions when you are taking the test, because that guy in room 405 is a real jerk, and half the time you don’t even have to do all the algebra problems. Follow the route in the playbook, and the QB will hit you in that split second window between glory and shame. Somewhere along the way, we are supposed to understand why these rules are so important. We are supposed to squeeze out the essence of a functioning society, see how all this is really just for our benefit. Then when we are released as 20-somethings, let out from our childhood box and no longer told what to do, we are supposed to be invincible. But really, we are shapeless, lost in the world, because we never learned how to be without restraint.

  14. an often misunderstood word. simply abused, even. its definition has been raped tirelessly by so-called righteous fuckers who are really just a bunch of sexists…. to obey isn’t to give in to bullshit.
