  1. I have no idea what that means. How am I expected to write about a word I don’t know the meaning of? It looks like ‘obscure’ and reminds me of the word ‘bleek’. No wait, that’s not a word apparently? Why has it been underlined in red? Did I spell it incorrectly? Bleec, bleeck, bleak. Oh!

    May they not gales unknown to us receive?
    See daily showers rejoice the thirsty earth,
    And bless the flowery buds’ succeeding birth?
    May they not pity us, condemn’d to bear
    The various heaven of an obliquer sphere;
    While by fix’d laws, and with a just return,
    They feel twelve hours that shade, for twelve that burn;
    And praise the neighboring Sun, whose constant flame
    Enlightens them with seasons still the same?

  25. Oblique. I can’t even think of what that means. I guess it’s something about being um I dont know. Lets talk about something else. I can’t stand the rain. I hate trevor. Cant believe I let him spend the night last night, but I’m glad I was completely over him by the end of it. He is not a good person by my standards. He lies. He thinks mostly of himself. And the worst part is, he doesn’t even realize how bad he is. He actually believes he is right in the way that he lives his life and that he should be in power. It’s guys like him that end up in politics in this country. In this world. They have strong ideals but they don’t live by them at all, because really above all else they’re power hungry. Whatever the ideals may be, their true underlying ideals are those of getting ahead and having the most power. Even revolutionaries were this way. Absolute power may corrupt absolutely, but even a little power is already corrupted. This is one of many reasons humanity is doomed from the start and will never really improve. No point fighting then I guess.

    “My god. What happened here?” Jaxon asked, coming up behind me.
    I rolled my eyes. “Isn’t it obvious?” I asked, kicking at a stray ball of paper and watching as it went skittering across the floor. “Someone’s on to us.”

One of us, she tells the young couple, he is six, not quite seven, and he’s had his fair share of tragedy. He walks with determination, unlike the rest of the children who stumble along leaving little dead bodies littering their paths next to the old and feeble, weak and unwell. His leather boots are laced tightly even thought the soles appear to be falling off. They noticed the boy who is six, not quite seven, and is walking, walking, walking.

  34. So many here are writing:
    “Oblique? I don’t what that means.”
    “Clout? What is that?”
    My unsolicited advice (means advice you did not ask for but are getting anyway) is first to look at the word and IMAGINE what it means, and write something about what you imagine.
    And second, when you’re done writing from your imagination, go to the dictionary and look the word up, find out what it means, and resolve to remember it and use it because
    WORDS ARE POWER.

  35. The nature of the situation… It is oblique. The roots of it, of him, his psychological depths, not direct in descent, are therefore misleading in their rising from his fouled mainspring as black bubbles of translucent maladjustment… They pop! and are no more for him, are gone, done, passed away but for the grey rings of splatter, point-source pollution, left indelible on the innocent souls who happened to be situational…
