  3. paperclips keep things together. they are shiny. and metal. but can also be dull and rusted. they can be changed, are malleable, dangerous in some cases, useful in others. paperclips are the cousin to staples. but may provide more in some cases, though used only when there are larger stacks of paper that staples can’t bind together. they handle more, but are appreciated less. Staples has a successful chain store named after it. What do paperclips have?

  4. Paper clips are pretty cool, when you think about them. They’re only a tiny fragment of metal but still they hold us — our paper — together. Like staples. But better-looking.

  13. I use these to hold my papers. More importantly my thoughts. Because you see on these papers are my entire life. My every thought. Everything that defines me. I write them down because, well, because I’m afraid to think. I’m afraid of where my thoughts might take me. But in the end I must face them, because I have to write them down. And keep them intact with these paperclips.

  16. Paper clips. That’s what started it. Here’s how it went. Ben and I were both in the supply room of our paper company branch, and we both reached for the same box of paper clips. Our hands touched, and a jolt of electricity ran through me. We got to talking, and two weeks later, he asked me out. 3 years later, we were married. Paper clips. It’s how you start a romance.

  17. PAPERCLIPS! are awesome and are really helpful for anyone to use I have a feeling sometime someone will actually invent something like the paperclip only it will be better and then no one will want to use one.

  21. They hold paper together, but when they aren’t performing their main task, they make a great toy to pass time at the office. You can twirl them, twist them, and bend them. And you can make them into a spring that will launch high into the air and scare the crap out of the coworkers sitting in the cubicles around you.

  24. When I was younger, my sister would always buy patterned paperclips. I always thought it was the coolest thing in the world, but retrospectively, she made paper fairies and wrote suggestions to J.K. Rowling, so maybe they weren’t that cool. Also, they were expensive.

  25. paperclips are silver and metal and highly useful. The can hold things together like papers, or even hold one’s hair back out of one’s face. They can be launched, bent and connected to form a chain. They’re light and durable. You can use them for many things.

  29. There was a box of paperclips on the edge of the detective’s desk. I reached out to fumble with it while I listened to him questioning my partner. I thought of all the uses for a paperclip, including my favourite one. They made excellent lockpicks. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have made one while sitting there in the police station, waiting to be arraigned on burglary charges.

  30. I never use paperclips, I just don’t really see the use of them. I never staple paper either. I just use the ‘fake’ staple. you can recognize it by the tip of the papers being folded over. Im sorry, I just don’t know how to make use of useful things.

  31. paper clips are very useful…you can use them to clip papers together but also you can use them for many other things! I’ve seen people wear them as earings! OUCH! haha but I actually did that when I was younger :S haha. Wow I just love paper clips… I couldn’t live with out them! Picture life… with out paper clips! NOOOOO

  39. they’re good for holding papers together, and can be used to poke someone’s eye out if it’s straightened out. they’re tough to get completely straight though. i like the jumbo, silver kind. they’re my favorite.

  40. I have a large collection of paperclips next to my computer. I don’t collect them like some collect stamps or spoons. I was given most of them years ago from a friend of my mothers. She had them all attached to one another and I thought it was fun to un-attach them. Now they sit and wait to be used.
