Successful working leads to prosperous living. Which needs goals. Which of course seems to be harder and hearder for people to do. Why have we not been taught this? Well perhaps now they are teaching this. However, most likely, we are taught how to be successful in school. And not to be successful in life. How to keep your house clean, your finances budgeted, the car in working condition… but then again, shouldn’t our parents be teaching us that? But maybe they are trying to create a prosperous environment themselves. Work, work, sometimes two jobs to tide them over. We need to not only do our work, but involve ourselves in our children’s lives. They are the real reason we want to work, be prosperous. They are the real reason that we see ourselves daily in the “grind.” And we want them to learn through our hard work. But then we forget about teaching them about the betterment of life- the time of cooking together, camping together, swinging at the park together, practically camping at the library to find a few good books, learning crafts- knitting, wood burning, carving, designing, etc. When was the last time you sat down and showed your daughter or son how to survive a stressful day? Prosperous for money means nothing to me, but maybe a bit more stress relief. Prosperous of the heart, now that’s what we need to work on.

I do not like the word prosperous. It implies that a person has to be rich to be described as this word because usually riches and prosperous are used in conjunction with one another. Prosperous can also be used to refer to the crop yield for a farmer. But I think prosperous should mean something different to everyone and it shouldn’t be dependent upon their wealth or lack thereof.
Prosperous. It’s what we all aspire, isn’t it? In my more selfish moments I care not for the prosperity of those outside my social circle. Of those who are not family. For above all, above the prosperity of others and above my own prosperity, the success of my family– true family, that is– is what I prize above all else. Selfish or not, I can’t help the superiority that I hold my family to, be they related by blood or otherwise.

This is exactly what I need right now, for my parents. I know that they’re having a hard time because of the economy crisis and the fact that we just moved to a new country with a bigger money value.
