Recycling is so important. Why don’t more people do it? Why does the shitty little town I live in force EVERYONE to recycle, but the capital of my state does not? I find something incredibly wrong with that. Everyone should have been forced to start recycling decades ago.

I sat alone with my mother on my oregonian porch. We sat and unwrapped old holloween candy and threw the rappers into a cracked open volley ball. It served as our recycling bin. I hadn’t played volleyball for years, and this one was too old to donate because it would just discintegrate.
at school we have bins in the lunch room. one is for bio degradable things, one is for plastics, and one is recyclable bottles. its a small act, but in the long run its really helping the environment.

My mother thinks leftovers are meant to fill trash cans & that the compost heap I set up outside is nothing but a ‘source of stink.’ I do try though, I really do. I try to encourage my siblings to recycle, even the wee ones. It’s seems like such a small thing, to separate certain pieces of trash so that we’re not as wasteful on the planet. Every person who thinks that someone else is in the world is recycling for them, so they don’t have to, could be helping the world.
