It took a long time to rise from the destruction left by the tornado through our lives. Of course it had hit at a time when dad and I had finally felt like we have finished rising from the poverty level we had so forcefully fought our way out of. Now it was time to rise again, we did it once–maybe practice would make perfect.
Rise. Like a sunrise. They look so pretty, the way the clouds turn all pink and orange. I once stayed up until five o clock to watch the sunrise. I love the sunrise. I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping in my ear. That rushing wind running past my face was a nice reminder of the beautiful sunrise I was eagerly awaiting. I looked to the west. Red, orange, yellow everywhere. It lit up my soul and made me smile for the first time in weeks.

I walked through downtown and noticed that all of the buildings were high rises. Where do all of these people come from? Who work in these buildings and sit at these desks. What is it that they do at these jobs, day in and day out. I could not imagine my life being so routine and so boring. I want to rise above the high rises.

My life has been spent dragging up hill by the knees. And I never knew why I was put in that position, and why I was asked to accept it. But no. Now in my life I rise above the negativity, the people who look at me and hate me, and try to hurt instead of help me. Now that I have come out of a long long time of being dragged uphill by my hair and losing my heart, I decided to fight back and rise yo to who I know I am. And pity them for never getting to know me. Instead of my heart sinking as it has for 3 decades, it has begun to rise.
