The rules of Jackson school are some of the worst rules ever. The first one is that kids are allowed to go to school without any clothes on! So one day, a kid named Jonathan didn't wear any clothes to school. Another rule is that you can say whatever you want. So one of the teachers started saying bad words in the middle of class. So weird!

In the book Rules, there's a nice girl name Katherine who has lots of rules for her little brother who is autistic so he will not embarrass her. She is very nice and makes new friends in the book despite her brother's autism and it is one of my favorite books.

My wife plays the flute
when one child seethes
salt out of its paws

I play the double bass
- tweak the tune
till quivering string
resonates with sinews

In the other room
the other child's ear drum
pops

i don't understand. why does it have to be this way? why is it that one much always tell the truth, even when it feels like the truth is stabbing me in the back, twisting me around until i can't tell forwards from backwards? i don't like this rule about truth, because it means there is only absolutes. there is a right and there is a wrong. right is right and wrong is wrong but somehow we are in the middle and i don't know what to think anymore.

maybe i want to pretend. maybe i want to lie. maybe i want to tell everyone that you love me and i can't live without you and we will transcend time and be together forever.

what would you think of that?

can i lie?

Rules are what confine people. They draw parameters on every action that you make. You can't go faster than that, you can't run here you can't do this or that or anything at all out of the ordinary. The worst are society's rules. The ones that have no real punishment except judgement from others, those are the hardest rules to break.
