  1. the man and his partner walked towards the north side of the ridge. It was hot out that day and they were tired from the day’s trek. Portnoy, a healthy man of 37, had with him his nikon camera;the one his father had given before he passed away, dangling precariously from his neck. One step off balance and the half century old device with which he makes his living using goes to pieces. The man he hired to help him scout was “koutche”, a young fisherman who lived in the more populated part of the county, for a mere 500 francs koutche would accompany any paying party out into the bush.

  2. Scout like from To Kill a Mockingbird she was the only one who could see right and wrong but yet she was also the youngest! Funny how that works out. It makes me believe in reincarnation and the idea of souls. Scout was an old soul.

  7. Boy scouts have many impacts on the world. they provide money for charities, and character building for young boys. 8. she was a scout for the society of dreamers, an irony within itself for its nickname “sod.” they were a bunch of sods, they always joked, living on the countryside and indulging in only the most prim and proper of activities. in a way, they were. they never drabbled into the real side of dreaming, the dark and terrifying side where the beasts roamed free and nightmares were more real than anything on the other side, and they were comfortable with that. she was just a scout, searching for additions to their little society. the boy watched with wide eyes, trying to take all of it in. she cracked a wry, crooked little grin. “once a sod, always a sod,” she reiterated, stretching out a thin hand, “so what do you say, dreamer?”

  9. The boy scout was cute and chubby. He was trying to fit in—he just wanted to have friends. His parents treated him miserably and school wasn’t his best attribute. So he figured the boy scouts would help him to truly find his path in life. When he built his first fire, the smile on his face could have stopped millions dead in their tracks, that’s how elated he was. He finally felt like he could matter.

  13. Scout sat on the tire swing as she had every other day during the summer. Where were her brother and Dill? Why hadn’t they come back yet? It was perplexing her. Surely Boo Radley hadn’t caught them? But the thought was too much to bear. They feared him as they did no other, though she began to wonder, was it fear, or merely amusement? Every day they watched, provoked, and were scared away by this person whom they had never seen before. Was it merely the excitement that kept them going? Scout could function on excitement and anticipation alone, and today seemed to be just her prescription.

  22. He stood behind the chain link fence, clipboard in his hand and pen behind his ear. He watched the boys throw passes back and forth between one another, and he watched the boys run pass after pass, and he watched as some boys thrived as others failed. That was his job. He watched the boys, and he chose which ones he could help turn into young men. He took them from their high school niche and offered them the wide world of college football. He knew someone would have to push them someday. But that wasn’t his job. His job was to scout, and that’s what he did.

  25. um boy scouts i suppose. they’re cute, right? can’t say I’ve ever known one or been one, especially considering I’m a girl… I’m not sure…. oh! scout is also Atticus’ daughter in To Kill A Mockingbird. I love that book. I think maybe i’ll name my daughter Scout if I have one one day. apparently i get more time because i forgot to put my name in, so I guess I’ll keep writing. But yes, Scout is a great character in that book and she has a great nickname. My dad sometimes looks like the movie version of Atticus Finch. Well, i think time is up now.

  31. I was a Girl Scout once. I also once read about a girl named Scout in the book “To Kill a Mockingbird”. I love that book. It shows me so much about life in general. She lives up to her name, scouting out what life is about. It’s nice.

What? Where did that come from, for you? Stopped and starting, heart departing.

It’s a shame they’re tearing it down. i honestly still cry about it sometimes. I hope it;s turned into a park. I won’t be able to stand it if it’s sold off and turned into houses. it’s such a beautiful area the only way to do it jutstice is to turn it into a park.

  39. Looking through the leafy foilage, the watcher gazed upon the grassy field staring intently at something that the others could not see. Suddenly, he gave a cry as hundreds of arrows appeared in the sky. Their trajectory aiming for his hiding place.

  40. The scout waited patiently to see what all the hype was about. When the team finally emerged from the locker room, he was surprised to find that his star “player” was all of four foot five inches tall. The height was an issue, but the small monkey on his shoulder would proved to be a whole other subject.
