I’d stalk them everyday, singing on the pavement just to try to get their attention.

  5. when i was a girl scout things were fun, yeah our troop tried to do a lot of work win the awards, but eventualy i think our leaders just gave up and realized we were bums and all we wanted to do was have fun. so we went to camp and we did sleepovers, mall lock ins and camping trips, the works. if we happened to earn a few badges along the way then that was cool, but mostly we were just content to be having fun and hanging out together. friends forever, or at least friends for now. it was the most fun times of my young life.

  7. I watched a youtube video recently which explained how the Boy Scouts of America has a rule that they don’t allow atheists or homosexuals to be scouts; this is supposedly justified because they’re a private company, but they actually get a shitload of money from the government. I’m glad Scouts Australia has no such rule.

  8. She looked into the distance, seeing nothing on the gray blue horizon of the ocean. She was supposed to find something, she was sure, but there was absolutely nothing about. Waves crashed and tore and rose from the sea, and the skyline was fluid and shifting.

The color of the ocean reminded her of the color of his eyes.

  9. If Scout said one thing, she almost always meant the opposite. She had a poker face to kill for. She counted herself sensitive to other people’s needs but could manipulate anybody if it suited her’s. She was not a tomboy, like her namesake from To Kill A Mockingbird, nor did she have siblings.
But she lived up to her name in one important way: you always had to search for her. She would never arrive, wrapped, ready for you to understand. She counted her ability to be a mystery as her main talent, an essential part of who she was.

  10. a funny little old fashioned uniform, brown, too big for the boy, his skinny legs poking out the bottom, socks runkled around his ankles, an eager look on his shiney little face.

  11. when I find the crossroads I’m going to put up a sign. The sign will say, “Billy Bob was here.” it will have a picture of myself carved into the plastic and it will tell everyone, “don’t worry, this is a good place, i have found it with my own eyes. One day if you’re walking down here be sure to know that someone knew what they were doing and stayed here.” Then they will walk a little way down the road. There will be a another sign which said, “Billy Bob was here, and is dead.”

  19. I often think about why i didnt get into being a boyscout. that what i think at first when i hear this word. I wonder sometimes why i never got into it or why my parents didnt think it was vital for me to be in it. I wonder sometimes if this was something that could be the butterfly effect that would or would not change the way i see things. Who knows, im still happy as it is.

  20. When i think of scouts i automatically think of the children who fill up their minds with new responsibilities of how to camp, set a fire, do all sorts of things. I sometimes wonder why i never got into it? why didnt my parents think that it was vital for me to do so. I dont blame them or feel bitter in anyway but i tend to think what would the difference be in my life, the butterfly effect that would or would not change the way i may see things. Who knows.

  25. Girl scouts like to sell cookies, and I like to eat girl scout cookies because they are super duper delicious and I love them. I like the ones with caramel and coconut, and also the ones that are shortbread with lemon, they are amazing. I don’t know why they had to change the names of them. The original names were so good.

    by Mimi on 10.14.2011
