  6. i looked at the picture that was shown on page 36 in my son’s science book. it was a well dressed, heterosexual, couple holding hands. with thoughts racing through my head at the look of the so-called “normal relationship,” my heart sunk and i felt the shame of being an “unnatural, disgusting gay.” being frowned upon by all of the other parents in the school had by then become an everyday thing, i had simply learnt to ignore the looks me and my wife got when we picked up our own little angel from school.

  8. I like to be shown how to do things. When I am shown something, I gain understanding. It makes me think of “show and prove.” I am happy to be shown kindness. If anything is to be shown, it has to be able to be taught somehow. SHOWN… hmmm.. Not sure what to write.

  19. I watched the flowers bloom in such an artificial way and wilt with sickly realism. I didn’t want my garden to follow in the fashion of my neighbors’. I would show mine how to grow properly. I would watch the weather, pull the weeds, bring extra water. I looked down at the soil, tiny seedlings peeking up at me. I could feel him behind me, but I didn’t turn. I spoke loud enough for him to hear me. “I will wait for you.”

  26. i haven’t shown anybody anything in what feels like ages. what is there to show? i used to show stories that i’d written in an ecstasy of anger and rage and felt were perfect if only everybody else might understand them. but that’s not how it works.

  27. When something is explained to you either explicitly or implicitly. But maybe it doesn’t have to be external at all. It can be internal. Shown, is a form of perception anyway, really. I mean one person can be shown one thing and the next person the same, and they will both see or think completely different things…. It’s like a mirror of your consciousness a revealing of who you are and your personality…

Everything gets shown at one point or another. You must be prepared. If you don’t prepare for the worst, you’ll never see the best. If you can’t show your true personality, then who will you ever be? You can’t be your full self unless you let every bit of you be shown to everyone.
