  1. Paralyzed, stuck in a society that is not my own. I do not belong here. I am a fish out of water. I’m drowning in this air, I need to be back in the sea. The ocean calls me, I dream oh so longingly. In class I stare out the open window into the bleak white surroundings. The gray sky mocks me while the sun refuses to show me his light. I’m losing my mind. My grasp on sanity is slipping. Take me back to the place where the golden grains of sand are kissed by cerulean waters. Take me back to the place where bronzed surfers send me smiles and shakas. I want those sand ball fights back. I want to have see a shark and have a heart attack. Just take me back! Please oh please! I want to see my girl friends with their bleached hair down to their waists. I want to hear the myna birds at 4 am. I want to jump off cliffs into secret pools, I never ever want to see the horrid snow, or treacherous icy roads, or frighteningly barren trees. Most of all I never want to speak to any of these illiterate peasants again. You pale faced, idiotic, delusional hockey players can go to hell.

  2. A prison.
We’re all slaves, aren’t we? Humans are so stupid, convincing themselves that the most primal of their desires are something complicated and immeasurable.
You don’t realize it. But you’re bending yourself to fit this choking cage, too.

  3. I am the product of many societies rolled into one.
Perhaps it is only natural that I should feel beholden to none.
As it’s more than enough to belong single species in all its diversity.
Yes, global thinking, that is the way I sway: the play by play from day to day.

  4. she says,
“you don’t want to be like me.
    the bleach burns and the
    mascara never washes off.”

  5. Society has been destroyed due to the fact that kids and teens these days want to rebel against adults who are way too strict. No one these days really knows what civilized looks like, because no one these days is civilized. People need to learn to love and let the electronics quit consuming their lives.

  8. Society has evermore been an evolving and thriving virus or plague on the planet. A society of takers and users that has transformed a minimalist culture into a dense population of animals that take more than they can possibly use simply because its there to take.

    by AxioMaticOne on 02.12.2013
  9. society is like a black hole
it tries to lure you in slowly
then it sucks you in leaving
no trace of who you really are

  10. Who is society to tell us what is right and wrong, what is good or bad, what we should or should not do? We are society. We have created all of the stereotypes and wrong assumptions that we all hate so much. It is us. We are the problem. To change society, we much first change ourselves.

  11. all I can think of is that song in into the wild
damn it I always knew I wasn’t creative
    society is a bitch
it makes you think shit like that

  12. “It’s gone,” he said to himself eyeing the lifeless city that was once become his home.

“They’re gone. Everyone’s dead. This is just fucking sad,” His partner muttered. “Seeing this brings back memories. I don’t want to be here. Let’s go somewhere else.”

    They walked away.

  13. Wow, society, what a big concept. What is wrong with society today? Society, it’s so different everywhere you go but seriously, we are all really the same so why can’t we just all get along!

  15. If you ever find yourself lost in the mores of your society
allowed your cultural decorum to dictate your sense of propriety
relied on your parents or your guardian or church
to provide you with your goals or your desires or your piety
then you’re allowing society to change your mind
not using your mind to change society

  16. Oh my God if I could tell you how tired I am of hearing the word society.

I’m in a class called Women in Literature and it’s a /great class/ like seriously great but holy crap we need new words for things like “society” and “patriarchy” because like I need some variety I need things to be spiced up a bit I did not sign up for this constant haranguing of the same four terms type thing like that’s not me man.

  17. Same humdrum problems perpetuated by the same humdrum people over and over again. Any real advancement is illusory to an underlying issue of self loathing and sabotage. How far we’ve come, and how little we’ve accomplished in all of our Darwinian years here on Earth.

  18. society is an interesting structure in my opinion,
possibly because i’m a sociology major.
it’s all about the societal structures, functions, norms.
    everything to do with how society affects the individual;
    shaping and molding and creating.
but a society can’t exist without individuals.
    there’s a bit of irony.

  19. Oh god…don’t even get me started. I can’t…I just can’t.

  20. when people as a whole get together and make ideas and opinions shape the way they live. it can be a negative and positive thing depending on the ideas. I think society in western culture is actually quite messed up and things should change, there are a lot of expectations that aren’t realistic. Why do we always follow each other even if you know in your brain and heart that it’s wrong. Like we all have to be the same “normal” people or else we aren’t included.

    by Mikaela on 02.12.2013
  21. Society is forever changing
    Or is it?
    Technology rolls forward with ease
But while social norms are challenged
    Constantly
Only the little things ever seem to
    Change

  22. The world wants for naught. After centuries of persecution all peoples of the Earth have each of their basic needs met on a daily basis. There is no more hunger, depression, hate, racism, war, or crime. You might ask yourself, “How could you achieve this?” Many primitive minds of the past, which have read this, ask themselves the same. All it took to accomplish this was a little sacrifice. For hunger we traded choices, for depression we traded free thought, for hate and racism we traded diversity and for war and crime, we traded our souls.
All peoples of the world are now under one government called, The Nation. Each of us is forced to endure all the cruelty and malice the world has to offer at an early stage in life. Our minds are penetrated by the hate we so wished to destroy. At the age of seven, also known by the people as the age of reckoning, we undergo a process, which changes us entirely. We relive every known war, every possible death, crime and injustice. There is just one thing that the leaders of the once great Nation hadn’t accounted for…me.

  23. What makes us do what we do with our lives. We can say it doesn’t affect us, but deep down it does. The different aspects of society control the different aspects of our lives. How we speak. How we walk. How we think. How we feel. How we talk. How we live.

    by Lyndsay on 02.12.2013
  24. society is large and friendly. Here in America, society greats it’s citizens with open arms.
Society is nice, but I know other’s are bad.
I want them all to be good. But that dream may never come true.

    by Kerry on 02.12.2013
  25. Society is a lie. They lie to get you to buy things, to make you a “better” person. Be skinnier, sexier, healthier, stronger, happier. Wear our masks and be someone who is popular, accepted. Society is a lie. Their masks are too heavy to wear, too radioactive to be safe.

    by Ksenia on 02.12.2013
  27. Society is something that we are all a part of. A society can be something simple like an indian tribe, or it can be complex like America. Societies have problems because they are made of people and people make mistakes. Sometimes a society can hold people together and sometimes it tears them apart.

    Oops…Well, aren’t I cool.

  32. Oh how I hate to use the word society. But I tend to find myself almost using it very often. But it’s cliche to critique society. Been there done that. But what was done. Everything? How cliche killed the revolution.

  33. Frustrating top to bottom construction, we leave the confused behind while the well-informed, well-bred, well-supplied become the heads. We base value upon success and then decry those who grow fed-up. Is it no wonder that some others would gladly see the world burn? Certainly we reference it several times in pop culture because the idea lingers, when there are those left behind and lose all hope of ever making it back within the grace of social solidarity, they will commit the heinous, the radical, the unusual in order to garner some recognition.

  34. fuck society it is built on lies and consumerism. there is no individuality anymore, and we are stuck in a system that keeps everything at a flatline an I haven’t even had dinner yet.

    by Heven Blickest on 02.12.2013
  35. Society is something poets get to bash openly for snaps and cheers. It’s what makes us rich and poor and weak and strong and alive and dead. It’s something we want to overturn, so we can be on top. It’s a boat we don’t want to rock.

  36. society is us and the people around us and what we do and how we live together and what we think about the way we live in the place we live in and how it works, society changes with time and media and the surrounding architecture and way of life.

    by nour on 02.12.2013
  37. lost in the blur of passing women in purple hot pants and men in sparkly snapback hats, i forget i am of the same species. they drink their worries and pains away and dance with no regrets. mardi gras brings out the side of society i like to forget i am a part of.

  38. Society: a world full of “civilized” and judgmental people, who think they have the right to criticize others.

But saying that makes me just like them doesn’t it?

  39. Overrated.

  40. Who are you?
    chain link faces
    bobbing society’s head
    where you’re going, I’m watching
    mind, the other way
