He drank in words like they were water, absorbing their inky blackness with his eyes. He began in the library, hidden behind stacks of books about metaphysics, philosophy, politics, the sciences and classic literature. He stole lines from books, from movies, from video games…whatever he could touch.
The SR300 robot’s optical drive also functioned as an information port, much like a USB port…with one exception. There was no where to plug anything in. Anything he could see, or touch was automatically scanned and archived. They nicknamed him “the Sponge.”
Just one question. With all the facts of the world accessible with one look, can we really call it “innate intelligence” anymore?

I love how sponge is a living organism and a showering utensil. Like who’d ever think someone can use a living thing as a showering utensil? Imagine us, human beings, as sponges. Hahaha. Funny.

Soaking up all things it comes in contact to. Often, I find myself being a sponge. I gradually take in all that I come into contact with; people, environments, cultures. They all fill my pores and satiate me with what I am.

My senses drew me in, absorbing me completely; like being caught in an overstated sponge.
I was carried, you see, further and further to where I needed to be.
Who could tell me what I was destined to see?
Who among you would ever seek in earnest the meaning to your own downfall, and how it was not from without but from within that the foundation of your very being fell as a result of its own design?

Wipe up the bench, wipe up everything that seems unclean. This was last night’s mess. All the grime from things which rot slowly over time, all the wine spills and bread crumbs. Wipe up everything that seems unclean, and be anew.

“Please don’t leave the wet sponge in the sink,” she tells him, pointing at the yellow blob in the sink. “It smells. It feels nasty all wet and ooky. It’s a breeding ground for germs. It takes 5 seconds to squeeze it dry and place it next to the faucet.”
He nodded because he knew he needed to acknowledge this latest order from her to make the bitching stop.

Once at the seashore, I made friends with a sponge. I found him on the beach and took him into my hand. I loved him and was his friend and showed him a good time. All he did was take and take and take. He left me with nothing, high and dry as a bone. This is why I hate sponges.
