Holding on top the flower, Emily slowly made her way down the steep hill. She had to escape the Demons. They knew she had the flower, and they wanted it. The thing is, she wont let them have it. “Emily! Wait!” She heard the voice, and it stopped her cold.

THE ROOT OF A FLOWER AND A FAMILY
By JESSICA on 07.05.2011
Breaking off the leaves and crunching through everything in sight, she was a fit of anger. Destroying the flowers he helped her plant like they were absolutely nothing.. it felt good. And as the entire garden was destroyed, only the lonely and frightened stems remained.

Leaves curled up towards the sun as it slowly began to rise. The stem shot up from the ground as if it had a crank underneath the roots, boosting it up from the dirt. Life began, as it had everyday.

O wow. My brain is so powerful. It allows me to appreciate the little things in life like flowers and trees. But I also have to feed my brain to keep it going. So I have to eat and drink (not necessarily drink drink… out of tall glasses…) All these things have stems. (think about it)

The stem of the plant gave so much information. More than I could ever know. When I looked again it had changed. It grew beyond lengths that I could ever see. The sun set against it, and I realized that it was more than a stem. But a tree. A tree that housed the stories of many.

I couldn’t tell what this had all stemmed from. The rash actions, the rude behavior, the feeling as if this night would never end. But it would. And that’s why I kept to myself and stayed away from the yells and obnoxious laughter. I walked out into the grassy field and sat down amongst the long blades. The moon shone down perfectly, painting the grass a mysterious silver. This was where I belonged.

the plants outside have stems. i kinda wish i was a plant. that’d be kinda cool to get to stay forever outside. you know be really close with nature. but i guess you don’t have to be up close and personal with mother nature when you in fact are part of mother nature. go figure. yep. i wanna be a plant. it’s like little kids who wanna grow up to be a frog. when i get older i wanna grow up and be a plant.

there is a stem to every plant there is a stem to every brain, there is a stem to every idea. Stems are the world. Stems are the cure, Stems are power to it’s fulest. You need stems to understand stems. Stems are the universe.

The stem of her wineglass reflected in the club lights and Harry came over to ask for a dance. She bats her eyelashes and says, “Next song, sweetheart.” Harry retreats and orders another vodka tomic. If he had any inhibitions left they were wing deep in libations.

I saw the stem sway with the breeze. Was it weak? Was it sleepy? Or maybe it was just dancing to the spring beats. The leaves were almost fluttering as the stem danced gracefully as it shone in green dress in the glimmering sunshine.

In order to get himself out of the situation, to stem the discomfort he was wading in knee-deep, Jensen smiled a truly idiotic smile and reaching both hands out as in a gesture of openness said, “Whhaaattt??? I was only joking!”

the stem of a single white rose stuck out from in-between the pages. crushed and flat it made an ancient and interesting bookmark. how many years had it been sitting there?

The stem of a flower, stems from a seed. A seed stems from the flower, which stems from the seed. And it’s all a big circle.

The stem was the thing that really held it all together. Without it, he mused, the flower would be in the dirt. It would be covered in soil, and it’s beauty would be impossible to appreciate. The stem saved it from that fate. It elevated it and held it aloft for all to appreciate it’s beauty.

There is a small withered flower, with a brittle dry stem sitting on the table. It’s all I’ve left of the love you tore apart. Each day it becomes more brittle, and with it, my heart.

A friend once said she wanted to like Mike Rowe (from Dirty Jobs fame) from “stem to stern.” I laughed repeatedly. Then made my sons turn on that show because she was dead on. What is it about a man with serious hands-on skills? That we feel safe with them? Or just know that something will get fixed without drama…whatever it is, yum.

I lifted the vase above my head. The stems were burnt on the ends so they could live longer without water. “Smart,” I said aloud. I set down the vase upon the table and looked at him with a small smirk. “She’ll love them.” He stood up and gave me a kiss on the cheek. “I’ll see you at the alter.” He whispered. “Bye.”

Maggie plucked the dandelion from the ground, holding it by it’s stem, and watch the scene unfolding before her in the park. There were two people, and they were two people in love – she could tell. That much she understood. But what she didn’t understand was why the two people were yelling at one another – like her mum and dad did before her mum took her and they moved to a nice new house. She hoped the girl in the park didn’t have to move away. She was quite pretty and Maggie thought she might ask her to play someday.

It cracked and crumbled away, desiccated by time just like the relationship it symbolized. Staring at the broken stem in her hand, lips twisted into an embittered sneer. It was trash now. She grabbed the dried bridal bouquet and threw onto the pile of junk, forcing the memories away.

Stem cell research is controversial. Many unborn embryos are consumed in order to further the research into the miraculous technology–thousands of potential lives are exchanged for thousands of the soon-to-die.

Stems are a part of a flower. They help with water. I never have planted a flower. There are stemless plants out there I believe. I’m fairly sure of this, actually. Although, it sounds farfetched. There are definitely sorts of stemless flowers out there. I wonder what the largest stem is.

Her name was Stemmy, because she sucked on pot stems and that’s not all she sucked on from what I had gathered. I was such a fucking prude, she was right. But now I realize I should have taken my chance and got to you before she did. You didn’t seem all that great before now. After you kissed my forehead and cuddled with me that night I was hooked. I’ll always be chasing that first high.

ITS ON A PLANT. I THINK OF IT WITH WEED BECAUSE I KNOW YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE STEMS OUT OF THE BAG INSTEAD OF PUTTING IN THE JOINT. I LEARNED THAT BECAUSE OF MY FRIENDS BROTHER WHO SAID IT GIVES YOU CANCER WHICH IS IRONIC BECAUSE HE SMOKES CIGGERETTES SO WHY SHOULD HE CARE ABOUT CANCER WHEN HE IS GOING TO HAVE IT HIMSELF? MAKES NO SENCE.

Most of my worries stem from money. I am very worried that the money I have won’t be enough. In a way, it doesn’t matter. I am going anyway. I will go as far as the money that I have will take me. I just pray that it takes me far enough away to get rid of the stink of home. Safe travels.
