All they had to do was to keep the law suits rolling, which meant accusing him of anything they could think of. None of it had to be true. You just had to keep going until he ran out of money and couldn’t afford a fight. Then you stick the boot in.

  4. i’ve been here living in this world for quite some time some may say i am lucky blessed well off i say yes i am all of those things but that does not mean i am satisfied i want more to be more to do more to see more to love more and as i live this far away from you i pray to God that i do all of those things and return sustaining life in myself and finding new ways to love and be who i am.
    you may not be the one, but for now i fear i cannot sustain myself without you.

  7. My first thought when I saw this is of the sun. It’s sustaining power, light, and heat it provides for the planet Earth and it’s inhabitants. It’s such a great wonder of creation, I say. Depending on one’s worldview, some may say it’s a fantastic marvel of chance and time, while others may say it’s an absolutely awesome creation of God.

  22. This is deja vu, the taste of repetition all that sustains me from falling over the edge. I know I have seen this before, heard these sounds, felt these vibrations. Why is it always when the world is darkest, when I am sitting in the backseat of a car, staring out the windows at the flashing, whirring, streetlamps, that I get the feeling I have been running around this wheel for so long I don’t even know which way is up?

  24. Caius didn’t try to sustain friendships. He didn’t need them, so why put effort into them? If people wanted to force themselves into his airspace, he guessed that was their business, but it didn’t mean he had to indulge them. He found that the less interested he acted the sooner people left him alone. And that was good.

    “Someday.” It feels self-important in my mouth, and I like the weight of its syllables on my tongue. The words start to flow before I can suppress them, quiet and fast. “Someday, he will come to his senses, and he will realize what a good friend I have been all along. And he will dump his girlfriend and kiss me and tell me that I am all he’s ever wanted.”

    It is wishful thinking, but it sustains me.
