  4. thirst is a powerful thing…you can thirst for something physical like water or for something more abstract like knowledge. it is what prompts us to seek out something to satisfy that thirst. it is a powerful craving, and signals something we may even need to keep on living. thirst is similar to hunger, but also has it’s own special and specific characteristics

  11. thirsty. to quench or not to quench. I don’t think I thirst for knowledge; knowledge thirsts for me. It travels around in the nothing of the universe and hopes, one day, to be propelled into my brain. Knowledge could only be so lucky; there’s so much space here.

  12. I am thirsty. I am in a desert. There is sand. Not just beneath my feet but in my throat. It scratches. My lungs are crying out, “wet me.” my brain is calling out “whet me.” I can’t win the battle between my body and my mind.

  18. drinking water as it slides down your throat cool calm collected silky smooth
the heat outside as the sun beats down on you and the cool inside as the water slips down your throat is almost too much to bare. Everything is hot and cold everything is in contrast to one another, how was she possibly going to choose between the two

  19. A man can go for days without sleep, but what really wears on you is the thirst. A thirst for knowledge, a thirst for freedom, a thirst for an unknowable other always fleeting just beyond your reach. That’s the weight you really struggle under.

  20. Burning. I guess that’s what you’d say. A year without rain. A millennium in the desert and such. TO be totally honest I reckon I drink enough water. I don’t know what it’s like to be really thirsty. So don’t be ridiculous I’m sure it’s not that bad.

  21. quenching gatorade kind of thing. You really have to be thirsty to know what this word means. It’s a unique feeling to things that require water (which is all living things by the way). I really like gatorade much more than powerade, powerade is much too strong.

  27. It sucks to be thirsty. Living in the desert of Phx I know what thirst is like after walking home from high school during 115 degree heat. Did you know that it is illegal to refuse someone water in Arizona? I think that is an awesome law. It’s better to be hungry than thirsty.

  34. He had a thirst for power. His veins were rotting away from the lack of heart and love. Nothing could stop him from this dehydration this hunger. And at the end of his days he was buried alone. There was no one to love him, to cry for him, or to speak for him. He was all alone.

  35. One night with you was all it took.
You put your arms around me and I knew that what I was dealing with
    was more than a crush.
Your lips touched mine and time again and i knew this was going to be the start of something i can not turn away from.
For months now I have had this thirst
    to know you.
This hunger to look into your eyes and hear your soul speak.
One night is all it took.
i no longer crush for you.
I know longer want to know you.
I no longer yearn to look into your eyes searching for your soul.
My thirst has turned into a gut wrenching hunger.
I want to know you like no one ever has before.
I want our souls to speak when you look into my eyes.
I don’t want to have a crush on you for it is to close to crashing.
I want to know what love is with you.
I want my thirst to be quenched.

  36. Stuck in the desert with nothing but clothing and an umbrella, the sun burnt my skin so intensely that my throat dehydrated to the point of insanity. The thirst was so intense that I could feel my body drying out like a clay statue stuck in the desert sunset.

  38. “Dehydration!”
    “Is no fun!”
I thought to myself as my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth once more. I wiped the sweat from my forehead and sat down on the nearest rock, my hiking boots crunching in the sandstone gravel.
“Damn you,” I told myself, “You should’ve brought more water. You should’ve told someone where you were going. You should’ve thought this through!” But berating myself would do me no good. I stood up and resumed my search for the trail, for water, for civilization.

  39. ocean, mist and working out. I think of love and the sea and following childhood sister and friends down to the peir in florida . I think of thunder storms and cobble stones soaked in raindrops. I think of being in the desert dizzy and waiting by the car for my grandmother to come back from the restroom.

  40. Thirst is so interesting. you sit there and you just think about how great it would be to pick up a nice glass of water or soda or juice. and somehow, it always tastes better out of a glass, nothing like picking up the cold glass and taking a big swig. enjoying every drop and your hands get wet from the condensation.
