He would sit on the cold platform at Grantham, Derby, Leeds station and admire the wheezing diesel engines, adore the sleek lines of the coaches queued up behind them, dream about taking a 5 series engine to dinner one day, in candlelight, perhaps fish and then some fruit sauce with meat, a good red wine and then, sated, to bed.

  3. transport? yeah, I gotta do that to get home. I gotta go across 5 states, and 1,600 miles. What I wouldn’t do to be there right now. It sucks, but that’s life. That’s what everyone’s gotta do to live, transport. You know, drive, fly, boat, bike. Run, hop, skip, jump.

  4. “Fuck!” I swore to myself as I twisted my way through the wave of people, trying to find a way out of the train station and onto the street. Seeing a corner up ahead, I rushed forward, jerking my body forward in a strange half run/half limp manouvere that made me look more beast than man.

  5. Drivng the chunnel versus the swimming channel, if only my postbox weren’t so tiny, I could avoid having to search all my international orders at the ever-striking postal office. Could they be any less efficient? Ah I wonder…

Sometimes I sit and wonder what their lives are like, what they’re thinking of, and what they’re worrying about. I realize that we’re all in such a hurry to get to our a destination. We’re so focused on getting to where we’re going that we don’t really take the time to take in our surroundings.

The ride was bumpy and everyone was nervous, staring blankly at their hands, their guns, their boots, the floor. They had no idea what lay ahead. 39. I think every 16 year old feels that a car is not simply a mode of transportation, but the key to freedom. Somewhere along the line, I assumed that concept would fade away and the romanticism of my car would be lost, replaced with a boring image of my car as a ton and a half of metal and fiberglass to get me from A to B.
But it never did. It’s still my key to freedom, without it I go stir crazy even when I have no where to go. It’s also my personal music room, my stress reliever, and my secure escape… Oh, and it gets me around too.
