'She's a little light upstairs' they would remark to each other, tapping their temples and nodding their puppet-like heads.

But she knew the joke was really on them. Upstairs, like all attics housing the concrete or abstract, was always where all the unimportant and trivial things were kept.

It was what was kept downstairs that really mattered.

I went upstairs to visit my grandfather one last time. He was going away for a long time my mother said, but never really explained where explained exactly where he was going.

I went upstairs. I enjoyed the journey because it gave me an uplifting experience. I rely cant understand why it is that people don't travel up the stairs more often. I feel that people rely should.

The sounds weren't so easy to ignore, but if she turned up the TV loud enough they faded. Upstairs was where the bad things happened, but she knew better than to go up and try to stop them. Because if she went upstairs, the bad things might get her too.

upstairs, in the attic. in the attic are treasures unseen to mankind. they've been there, oh, since like forever. every generation has something to offer. a time capsule in your own home. from phonographs to 8-tracks. what will you discover?

there had always been something strange, something forbidden about going up those stairs and into the attic. She had'nt been told NOT to go upstairs, but to not go into the attic. Those were the specific instructions her mother had given her.

falling up the stairs is really unfortunate. I have recieved many a bruise from doing so. i used to dream about flying from upstairs to downstairs and wake up wondering if that was really true. we have 15 stairs in my house. i count them frequently.

The upstairs was dank and dark. They wandered higher and higher until it seemed as though they were leaving the ground behind entirely. The world slipped away and nothing was left but the upstairs. Finally, she realized that it wasn't upstairs at all. Just the highest part of her mind.

upstairs I heard them banging away, hammers I mean. You know, like the cats that jump off of bureau's and startle the hell out of you, like the hot summer days when your sweat drips like a burden off of your brow onto the floor and only the one you love will get so close that you kill eachother in the stifling embrace.

She avoided going upstairs for the longest time. It wasn't that she feared heights or the spiders that might lurk there. There was just too much of an ominous feeling around what was kept upstairs.
