Image Notebook 2 months, 3 weeks agoIn making a movie, the scenery is essential. No matter the plot, the background or scenery is what gives the characters beauty. Dark wood that surround my town are sinister enough for a Poe novel. No matter if it’s day or twilight, the chills the naked trees bring are unforgettable. Shadows are cast while our own cast make way into the scene, a campfire made by the brave survivors of the war. A fire pit was made easily, the experts doing the techniques that would make a scout swoon from it’s perfection. Gathering the supplies for the fire, the sky grew darker while few of the locals, including me, told ravishing stories about the place. As the fire, born bright, cast shadows upon the few surrounding the campsite, the camera was rolling, it’s lens to the side, showing another kind of shadow that stood among the trees.

Image Notebook 3 months, 1 week ago”Hey, c’mere a sec” her father yells down the steps. She cringes and, not wanting to make him wait, crawls out of her bed and peeks around the corner of the room, looking up at her father’s smiling face, at the pole he’s holding in his hands. She knows exactly what this is about. She had heard the whispers from the night before, the conversation between this man and her sister not even a few minutes ago. All she could do now was accept it. Her father held out the pole ”Do you know what this is?”
”A pole?” She answers quietly.
”Yes, and do you know what poles are used for?”
She knew exactly what poles were used for, but she answered slowly, ”poking things?”
”Yes, what else?”
”Hitting…children?”
”Oh,” he laughed,”Yeah, that’s a good one. Now listen, I’ve been talking to your step mom, and when she comes home today, the three of us and your sister need to have a… conversation.”
A conversation… that’s the word for it. By conversation he simply meant a guilt trip and then a punishment. She knew what he meant by conversation, and she wanted to scream back, to protest because she had done nothing wrong, but instead she simply nodded, and watched as he turned, pole in hand, to go back into the living room and wait until the inevitable conversation. -

Image Notebook 10 months, 1 week agoShe was sitting at the library cubicle on a hot summer day. escaping the heat, checking her facebook, minding her own damned business. The curve of her breasts beneath the babydoll-cut dress accentuated her figure and–as she well knew–displayed her clevage prominently. Moreover, it allwoed her body to breathe in the 105f degree heat. She checked her email, signed up for a 14-day trial pass at the local gym, and rifled through her purse to find the two nickels at the bottom of the crumb-infested bag. It wasn’t until she stepped over the computer cord that she realized she was flashing her panties. It wasn’t till that very moment she noticed he was rubbin his pant leg quite vigorously. should she feel ashamed? or should he? To react to a person in public, or to go out looking and feeling beautiful and comfortable? who owns that shame?

Image Notebook 10 months, 3 weeks agoI stared at the resealable tag, feeling empowered for the ensuing struggle. Fold a strip of the packet of ridiculously overpriced lettuce over. Crease firmly. Long fingernails are preferable for this task.
Narrow eyes at the plastic as it slowly curls itself up again. Repeat the process making sure you hold onto the plastic this time. Peel the resealable tag off of where it has been randomly placed on the bottom of the packet.
Push firmly over the fold, joining it to the packet. Hiss disparagingly at the tag which is certainly not resealable when most of the sticky underside has been abandoned on the bottom of the packet.
Heave a sigh and try again. For a second time. A third time. Scowl, my muscles need the exercise. Eventually admit defeat stick the stupid tag on the packet and shove it hurriedly back into the fridge, trying desperately not to acknowledge the tag already rising to it’s feet. Needless to say I was rather vicious in my treatment of my lettuce when I eventually got around to eating it… -

Image Notebook 10 months, 3 weeks agoI just posted a ”reply” to 3 days ago post of my own ”don’t remember the last time I took a break….” it doesn’t show up in the group forum, nor has it yet been indexed as a reply(0) to the original post. The protocol of oneword is odd and for those use to seeing their output immediately, revealed key stroke by keystroke, more off putting than engaging.

Image Notebook 10 months, 3 weeks agoI just read the Group Admins full description and I am not sure I followed the letter of the guidelines.
I like the format I saw in another group where someone posted a bit and left off leaving an invitation to others to jump in and add their bit and so on. That’s what I did below. It isn’t as if I have a mind that can only process little bits of experience, not today anyway, it was break time and the sky joined in. -

Image Notebook 10 months, 3 weeks agoDon’t remember that last time I took a break. Yesterday I did a handful of the practical that were building up while I lost time wandering around in my head, talking to myself about the muddle that had consumed my life.
Today is break time and the sky has cooperated and is putting on a show…..-
Now this could be dangerous, I am creating a discussion with myself. There might be a cordon of safety with the sky cooperating and being as unusual as my mind when I engage in interior monologue only and try to manage the multi-tasker called self.
Flashes of lightning break out from the dark patches, too large and dark to be clouds (the sky not my mind) and announce the coming thunder. The sound when it comes, begins with a low rumble and bounces in and out of the foreground until it booms across space but no tears, no rain, from the sky, just another flash and the anticipation of more recent disorder making itself known rumbling once again in the distance. This second crescendo promising that despite the delay relief and rain are coming to me and all within its reach.

Image Notebook 1 year, 1 month agoLaying in bed making a list in my head of all the things I should be doing, thinking about all the things that need to be done rather than just doing them is a very time consuming process. But the sound of rain makes my brain feel so much better than what your calculus lectures do to me.
it’s almost like i can hardly breath anymore.

Image Notebook 1 year, 1 month agoI woke up to whistle blowing and sounds of traffic below. Ah, middle of the night traffic; night clubbers going home in the wee early hours of the AM. As I woke and left the apartment, I noticed the crane machines outside my buildings; the stuffed angry birds, the half-naked lady lighters, and stuffed poo prizes. They were all powered off, silent, lightless. The cranes hung lifeless without hope of a 500won coin revival. The tape across the glass screamed in red and blue caps: POLICE EVIDENCE—POLICE EVIDENCE.
