  1. i love autumn. i love spring. these seasons are best but the best seasons always end soon. does that mean something? oh i don’t know. like i could make a corny cliche by comparing that to life.

  2. In the fall the leaves change colors. It is beautiful though it means there are darker, colder more depressing days to come. I don;t actually hate autumn itself but I hate that it means winter is coming, It is sort of like the last supper. Sure the weather is crisp and refreshing and the world is a vibrant shock of beautiful colors but soon it will be a cold barren frozen wasteland.

  6. The summer’s end felt like death and the crunch of leaves beneath their feet sounded like the ticking of the countdown clock; so they held each other closely and whispered stories about the spring.

  9. Autumn is crisp. Autumn is cool. It’s autumn now. Leaves are changing, falling, blushing. Thanksgiving is coming soon. Halloween was last week. I didn’t do much. Anyway. Autumn lasts for three months. It ends in November, I think. In New England, autumn leaves are very colorful. Another word for Autumn is fall. Autumn makes me happy. It’s cold, but it’s beautiful. It reminds me of warm things and forests and wood. Apple pie and Turkey and all the delicious harvest food.

  10. could it be, autumn came and left without the decency of saying hello? unprepared for the sudden cold, the single week of autumn left us to freeze.

  11. the leaves cringe and break under my feet
    i jump on them
trample them like the fears i want to defeat
every step i take is pronounced by the satisfying sound of the leaves
    now don’t think i’m a bad person
killing poor innocent leaves for no reason
i’m simply a confused hopeless soul
    presently convicted of treason

  12. Autumn. Leaves falling to a rhythm.
Autumn. With less and less sun.

  15. The autumn leaves float gently through the wind and just as they’re about to settle upon the ground, a strong gust sends them soaring into the crisp atmosphere of Fall.

  16. The leaves turned, like poison in the ground causing them to die and lose their mirth and catch to the wind. The soil turned, a hard mass littered with dry leaves that have been poisoned by the seasons. The water grows cold while nothing else grows at all and the chill in the air reaches the bones.
Autumn has come. The wolves are circling the dying. And we are all falling like the leaves.

    by Amy on 11.07.2011
  17. Autumn sat on the steps of the library, with the crisp ocher leaves twirling in graceful swirls around her. The book rested on her lap as she watched the world around her, and in that moment, with the cool wind playing with the tips of her hair, she was content.

  18. The day was crisp and fresh and tasted of apple pie, everything a fall day should be. The leaves were strewn across the campus sidewalks just so, and everyone was beautiful, almost painfully so. It was as if she was seeing the whole world through new eyes. Him, though, him she’d always see with extreme clarity.

    by Katie Salvadore on 11.07.2011
  23. Autumn is that time of year when the leaves fall from the trees and pattern the ground in colors, so many colors. It’s the time when things begin to die off and close up for the winter, but the recession of bright green is beautiful still.

  25. Autumn is a wonderful season; however, it is not as wonderful as summer. Autumn is exciting because everything is new. It is the start of a new school year. New friends are made and new experiences are to be had. Autumn is beauty.

  29. the golden hues that danced in the late afternoon light would soon change to glittery silver sparkles, as autumn would give way to the chill of winter.

  30. Autumn reminds us that seasons change. The crisp air reminds us that some things must die in order to gain new life in the spring. Dying leaves are beautiful, remember.

  31. the fall is the worst time of year for me. It’s dated back since I was a little kid. There were good things too- the leaves changing, going back to school with a new L.L.Bean backpack, figuring out which costume to don for Halloween. But all that aside, autumn is just not a great season for me.

  32. Autumn leaves fall. Fall comes allowing everything in our lives to fall right into place. Expected and unexpected all at the same time…

    by Pattycakes on 11.07.2011
  33. autumn comes and leaves fall, twisting, turning as they reach the ground in ones and twos and sometimes threes but it is the one that catches my eye. Is it more than just a leaf? could it be a soul, something, someone, lost and forgotten and weathered and worn and falling, falling, falling looking for someone to catch him?

  34. I never liked autumn as a word, but as a season I like it fine. I find the contrast between the opposing motifs of Spring and Fall play well off the Summer Vs. Winter contrast. Autumn gets in the way of that.

  35. the fall is coming. the seasons are changing. the fact is…is that mind hasn’t. if our desires change with the season, do we grow? as individuals, as a society…as lovers. love was the process that drove me to madness and back. desire reconciles the seasons.

    by Gabriel on 11.07.2011
  36. Kicking up the leaves, different colours, brown, yellow, golden, pulling out the winter jacket, boots and warm slippers, lighting a fire with the wood from the trees and starting to think about Christmas presents, watching the sky get darker earlier, regretting getting up in the dark, start of the cold sunny days, the days when cuppa’s are a godsend.

  37. The colors of autumn make my heart sing. I live in the PNW now, but grew up in Central NY. I remember one stretch of Hwy 54 that was at least a mile of sugar maples. Sometimes I would have to just stop my car, get out and take in the magnificent view set afire by the descending sun.

    by Andie on 11.07.2011
  38. The cold wind, feeling nippy against my chin, blew leaves all about the street. Colours rich as natures decay moved them through their short life time. Autumn, Splendid. Rich. Warm. Fragrant.

  39. flutter, flutter flutter flutter sloooooooooooow dooooooooown time is stopping all around me leaves are fallin in sinchronised time barely whispering as they touch the ground

  40. Autumn is Fall. Autumn is the season that it is right now. I’ve always wondered what my favorite season is because that’s a common question people ask, but I’ve never really decided… however, the other day I went back home to visit from college, and I discovered that I really do not like Autumn. It is my least favorite season; all of the leaves fall off and it leaves the world looking so empty. At least, that is what it did for my home…all the trees…leaves gone. It just looked so bare and depressing.
