  10. To civilize… this is what missionaries do innit, they go to places where heathens are and they ‘civilize’ them by introducing them to christianity – the only path to salvation… And then of course you have western conquerors civilising ‘savages’, primitives who are so clearly at a lower stage of development to us and need our influence to learn about BEING PRODUCTIVE and about economics and gadgets and all the paraphernalia of ‘civilised man’. Then you have adults civilings children, turning them from wild antisocial egocentric untamed animals into socialised human beings, proper people, adults who know how to behave and toe the line and become good upstanding citizens who hold down a job and DO THINGS rather than just BE!! then again it wouldnt be good would it if we were all in a wild untamed bestial savage stage – although as someone famous said and it probably still applies, ‘life is short and brutish and something else or other’ – my time must be up by now….

  20. Civil eyes breed civil lies that civilize
    Our population.
    Secret spies, false alibis, bastardize
    A legislation
    Formed by all to serve not one,
    But all, no matter race or creed;
    Now used by some to serve but none
    Save all their own self-deemed just breed.
    Sweet honeyed words they ooze
    While masses snooze and fancies fly
    Free from the shackled innocents
    Who choose or don’t, or know not why
    To bother with a system
    That yet seeks to oppress,
    Enshrouded from its failures
    Within promise of success.

  21. What does civilize even me? I know civilized, I know civilization. Well… scratch that. Even those words seem so arbitrary and subjective to me. How can someone be civilized with no savages to whom they can be compared? How can we have civilizations without the ashes from which they are raised? How can I define civilize without first learning to define myself?

    by Kaylyn on 10.16.2012

What does civilized even mean? Who is to say what set of morals and values and actions and thoughts define this term? We are all civilized, but yet in the same way, none of us are civilized. Our actions aren’t always what is expected by others, and not always what would be defined by others as civilized.
