  2. It was around the time Freddie got a job at Subway that our connection began to fizzle. He stopped making coffee in the morning and rubbing my feet at night. He rarely joined me at the Y for a swim anymore. I missed our cuddle when he’d wrap the towel around me. I dried off on my own more and more. And he started watching reality shows on tv and calling himself an artist. Our heart-to-hearts on joy and apprehension and the funniest knock-knock jokes were replaced with babblings on the proper configuration of chicken to bacon to monterey jack to creamy ranch dressing. No more nights did we gaze at the stars picking out the constellations.

  5. The summer rain beat down upon the brick buildings in the heart of Lowell, just outside the library. Inside, the bookshelves were aligned in a perfect row-by-row configuration to allow patrons to easily peruse books on either side of them as they walked down the aisles.

  6. Configuration is the arrangement they say. Let’s make the “configuration” to make this a better place to live.

  7. configuring … configuring… configuring …
    Lets consider the Ground Rules.
Make them up as we go along
and swear to god this isn’t wrong.
I can feel our relationship changing,
    transforming,
    morphing into new shapes
    and sizes and textures
and this is all new to me,
    new to us.
you’re the best i’ve ever had.

  8. The way that the buildings were built made the entire village look like a picture. It reminded Emily of when she was a child, and her mother taught her to play connect the dots (it had been her favourite game). She often found herself laying on the soft grass and watching the birds, wondering what they saw when they looked down, wondering what sort of pictures they would draw with the buildings.

  9. And the configuration of my heart reads your name. You’re what i want for the rest of my life, my charger, my fears and troubles. i’m here

  10. That’s a complex word, sort of like discussing the intricate bowels of a supercomputer. Honestly though, a configuration of something are its components, what it is made up of. Like the configuration of a human being would be its brain, heart, lungs, skin, muscles, bones, and all that stuff. However, there is also the feelings, the chaos, the need to scream in the craziest moments. All of this is a human. As complicated as configuration sounds.

  11. There wasn’t really any organized order. At least, not in a system known to man. But there they were, a configuration of used lighters laid out on the table, in various states of decay- cracked, burned, scuffed, scraped, or just plain broken, complete with jagged edge. Each was perfectly straight up and down, lined up in even rows and columns, as if there was an imaginary grid with one square each dedicated to a lighter. His dedication to their order and preservation was positively alien.

  12. Configuration reminds me of creatures that can morph and turn back to humans. Werewolves would be an example. Harry Potter’s teacher Mrs. Mogonagal, I think her name is spelled wrong, teaches configuration. Love those series!

by Ann Treesa Joy on 06.27.2012
  13. The configuration on the computer had gone completely awry, the display screen flickering in and out between a picture of a Jack Russell terrier and a shot of my boyfriend and me on the beach. As I fidgeted with the spazzy mouse, my dad came over and nudged me in the arm.

“Here, hon,” he muttered. “Let me see what I can do.”

“Dad,” I said, “you know less about computers than I do.”

  14. I sat looking at the thing. I figured I’d try a new configuration. What could it be? What would it do? What sounds would it make? Just like me.

  15. I am not sure that my body is configured right. When I was twelve I couldn’t figure out how to use a tampon and though I have since discovered that I do, in fact, “have a hole in the right place,” I still have trouble walking sometimes, there are red spots on my belly where other people do not have red spots, I get weird headaches and have trouble breathing. I have been to the doctor and though they have not told me I’m defective I lay up nights sometimes thinking it to be true.

  16. A configuration of mothers, hovering at the tennis courts. Not wanting to be too mother-hen, not wanting to be accused of only showing up for the sun.

  17. when every thing is out of control
    and you need a balance
maybe to re-organize them to your side and according to your needs and wishes.
when you cant stop something, then you change it.

  19. The configuration was astounding. The professor applauded Julia and had her get up in front of the class. She was suffering a stroke. Of genius.

  20. The configuration had failed, yet again. Sometimes it seemed that nothing would ever be right again. Sometimes she felt she could never do anything right, or be right. Except with him. He was the one configuration in her life that always seemed to work out. The one constant. The one positive.

  21. The configuration of the room’s treasures seemed to have significance as the small lights there were would bounce of the various shiny gems and gold trinkets to hit another treasure that would reflect again and so on and so forth. But only one treasure in the room had any significance: The leathery, ancient script that sat upon its own pedestal.

  22. Trying to change things to meet my needs and constantly failing. Gaining other peoples buy ins can be difficult to do this and sometimes thy just don’t want to know. Also reminds me of blenders and other electrical goods!

I had to figure out how to complete the configuration to get the space ship out of there. i didn’t know anything about space ships. but planet earth was about to explode and if i didn’t get the ship off the ground i was going to explode right with it. i fiddle with wires, with computer screens, haphazardly pressing buttons. i made it.

  25. “The configuration for this computer is all wrong! The red cable is supposed to bridge 2 and 1, not 2 and six. And look, this entire section is wrong. How am I supposed to teach you computational science if you can´t even read instructions?” said the teacher. The six year old simply stared at him, wide-eyed.

  26. The configuration of the stars was one she had not seen before. Her eyes wandered from point to point, a crinkle between her eyebrows. There was good and bad in these omens and yet the good seemed worse than the bad. How could that be? She would have to consult further with her books and birds and find the truth of what the stars were saying. Like as not it was nothing, but so many times nothing could become something so much more.

  27. The word above is very different. it means the fitting of parts.. Like how it fits together. for example: I like the configuration of the pattern of the blanket.

    by Amac on 06.27.2012

  31. Big word, much used. I’m drawing a blank. Just thinking about what a complicated and high brow word configuration is. I wonder if people used it as much in the 1950’s as they do now. Technology and all.

  40. Mazes. Endless tunnels, mindless turns and twists… I can’t get used to this. Life is so confusing. I can’t figure out if I’m meant to do this or that, go here or there. I don’t know if there is really a structure at all. I hope so, because otherwise, I’ve made some pretty damn stupid decisions all of my own accord. The word is ‘configuration’.
