My mom is crazy about decorations. And I thought it was just the way people did things. But it’s really really really not just that way. At all. My mom has brought my family and the way I think even to a certain level of classiness that I can only hope to replicate in my own future household. From the simple, metal american flag for the 4th of July, to giant Easter eggs to massive candy canes and a 12 foot tree, I am so lucky to have grown up with these lovely things around me. It has given me a special kind of love for the holidays and the ability to put my own finishing touch on projects. So, thanks mom.

Sighing, I took down the old and completely worn Christmas decorations that have been proudly shown on my grandmother’s porch for 40 years. One of my favorites, a china doll Santa Claus had so much wear and tear, you couldn’t tell if it was a dog or a person. Both eyes were poked out by some sick prankster and there was lipstick and other makeup smeared all over it’s face from my 4 year old daughter.

Whoever had done such a marvelous job at this beautiful creation deserves a special award. An award of happiness and success looking at their creation. Thinking how they did it and why but at the same token honored and proud of the magnificient decorations and art.
