  1. The lights dimmed as her blood leaked out of her lifeless body and on to the cold tile floor. Her screams still echoed through the halls of her empty house. The killer sat on the floor by her now paling body and kissed her gently on the cheek. “All will be well soon, my dear.” he whispered. As he stood up, he slipped on what once was her blood. It now belonged to this murderous creature.

  12. My life has become lifeless,
The light has been shut off,
The switch in the wrong direction,
Sensing my energy being ebbed away,
Without any sight I have lost my might,
    And in the night,
    My eyes can’t see,
    I cannot move,
    This is a limbo,
    A standstill,
All I can do is wait,
For something to be the shine so bright,
That the tunnel will be illuminated,
And respark the fire in me.

A sudden lift – light – and begin. What was the line again? Oh, yeah. Sudden remembrance. And go. The show begins.

  21. It’s dark. But from underneath the door, a stray ray of light peeks through. It’s small, but touches what it can and moves on. And what it hits is illuminated, lit up as bright as the farthest star in the sky. Maybe I won’t be the brightest star, or the closest. I won’t be the hottest or the one that’s always there. But I hope I’ll be able to touch your life when our strands intertwine and share my light with you. I won’t put you in the spotlight, but I’ll hand you a spark so dim you won’t even know, until you look back years later and realize that I did care. That I always cared for you.

  23. I gotta call. I. Got. A. Call. Breathe. Stretch. Relax. As you know, I’ve been waiting. Two months between the first & second calls. Now three months later the third call. 24. In the dim light, everything looks better. It was like the flowers, the trees, the cars even, – and above all, your face – they were all in soft focus. Like old movies, or something. 37. The dim lighting was what apparently, Josh had mistaken for romantic. I, on the other hand, thought it was silly. I could barely see my seat, much less my food. Talk about modern-day dining. 38. as i slowly dimed the lights i drank in the sight of the shadows her body cast upon itself. the supple curve of her waist and smooth lines cast over her face by the shadows drew my lips towards hers. the pull of our flesh was to much for wither of us to resist and we slowly fell into each others arms and sank to the floor wrapped together as one.

  40. in a dimly lit room with swaying light fixtures
shadows cast on the wooden base seem to crawl
    I’m reminded of being drunk
the whole room rocks back and forth, or are those my legs?
balance is the least of my concerns
because sitting in the corner is a dark figure
his face is to the wall, but I can tell he has something to say
under my breath I whisper, “you’re lies are like the venom of scorpions, I will never listen to you”
the wheeled chair begins to squeak as the man turns in it
I panic– I need to escape, but there are no doors in this dimly lit room
    I am trapped.
