I wish they could just insert a telescope into my soul and decide whether they like what they see instead of looking at a list of numbers

He loved the ancient smell, the way the pages felt like they were going to crumble in his fingers, the unintentional taste of the old leather cover. Was there anything else so satisfying than buying this encyclopedia? After buying it, he wished for that sense of discovery again.

  8. Edition- a first edition of a book is highly valuable though I have never understood why, really. To me it’s always seemed like the true value of anything isn’t in its physical nature (such as in a first edition being the first of a series of printings of a book) but the ideas and what not behind it. Materialism and ritualistic valuing systems are pretty stupid if you ask me.

  9. I’m getting so sick and tired of having to return textbooks because my professors don’t seem to know what edition they’re teaching from. -____-

  10. This edition of the Encyclopedia is vintage and very informative. It is of top quality, and you’ve kept it in excellent condition. Here on Antiques Roadshow, I’d say it’s worth about 500 dollars. This is PBS.

  12. This edition of the newspaper is good. I enjoy reading it. All the articles are good. I’m a dinosaur, enjoying my paper with my hot chocolate, my old cell phone, by big TV, my large desktop computer. This edition of the newspaper is like a pair of old, comfortable shoes that no one wants to throw away, but to keep for posterity.

  26. All his first editions are kept in a special glass bookcase. I don’t really see what’s so special about them. I mean, the second and third editions have the same words in them, don’t they? So what’s the big deal? The story isn’t any better in that book because it was printed first. So why should I care what edition it is? The whole thing’s just mental.
