When I think of ego I think of a businessman that works a lot, is pursuing a promotion, cares a lot about his money and social status, and has little concern for others. But I also think people can have a masked ego. They might outwardly seem humble, but they are really taking pride in their humbleness and “concern” for others.

Not noticing your flaws or noticing all of them? Sadness.
Everything we do or say is influenced by our personal agendas. Even when we’re completely devoted to the good of other beings, we still think about how it will influence us. In the end, we may be doing it for the other person, but it’s impossible to at least THINK about how it will change your life, or how it will make you money, or how it will benefit you. And it’s even gotten to the point that volunteers are being paid.
