  3. the ocean was covered in a sheet of white foam, the setting sun making it all glimmer like diamonds. It was beautiful. I’d never seen the ocean before. And now i was here for this, this storm that had been brewing for years off in the horizon, this war that was now spilling over. Austen came up behind me, grabbing my hand. I held tight to it, and in my other hand, gripped the dagger even tighter. We stepped into the water at the same time, and were whisked away.

  11. on the last day of vacation, it’s hard to turn a glimmer of anxiety back into a glimmer of hope. all the time that we spend doing things that we don’t really want to is coming back in. this time I’m hoping I can actually say that I’m okay with it – even when I know I’m not. it’s just a matter of pressing forward into a great new year.

  17. Glimmer

My mind is on the water these days… I’ve learned so many things. Things other people probably never stop to realize “I didn’t know this at one time.”

I love that I’ve learned the difference between the sound a Pelican makes as it crashes into the water (Disintegrating upon entry is how someone described it!), the sounds that fish make jumping in and out of the water (They really do jump. Some little ones jump super high!), and the sounds that dolphins make (plural because there’s usually two) as they swim along, breach, and re-enter the surface.

I don’t even have to turn around to know what’s happening within a certain radius of me now. I know without looking, because even with my eyes closed, breathing in the air… I now know the sounds. And I love that.

And “glimmer?” Sunrises and sunsets on the surface of that water.

Glimmer.

  23. Getting help these days was a problem. It was not even that I wanted people to do things without reward, but the minute they saw the glimmer in my eye they knew an idea was brewing. Friends disappeared, waving behind them pleading a previous engagement and in a rush to go somewhere. Next time, I say to myself, I will hunt them down and catch them unawares using bribery and coersion instead of relying on their better natures.

  24. A glimmer of hope like little glitter in the sky giving you a slim look at something. A reason to believe in something. Just a small glimmer as a little sneak peek into an idea, a new plan, a new adventure. Sometimes all we need is a glimmer to get us started…just like this word.

  38. All that glimmers isn’t gold.
What we mean by glimmer here is that little light at the end of the tunnel.
It’s not gold in the sense that it has monetary value.
