  2. Fred smiled, observing the constant, friendly and reassuring bickering of his two friends. He knew it was their own personal way to say they cared for each other. The bound that tied them had quickly grew and morphed into a deep friendship, and it had done a lot of good to both of them.
    Pete, who had used to be a hard and sad man, now seemed younger and happier.
    Brad, on the other hand, despite being almost thirty years younger than Pete, found his company relaxing, and laughed and smiled as Fred had thought wasn’t possible anymore. Their friendship had managed to instill in both of’em a new joy, a zest for life that they had forgotten. The fate had made them meet, and Fred was grateful for this. None of them had had an easy, happy life. In their own way, it had looked like they both had nothing, or nobody, to live for. But now, they had found a home, they had found a family. They had found each other.

  4. i have no idea what instill means. it sounds like install, in which case i link it directly to computers or technology. instill might as well be something psychological, such as planting an idea in somebody else’s head.

  19. It was a hard lesson to learn; not that the knowledge itself was difficult, but that the concept would take nearly a lifetime to master. Still, she tried to impart some sort of know-how to her student, pounding it in day in and day out. There had to be a better way than repetition, but if it existed she didn’t know what it was.

  22. I was about six years old when my mother first read The Chronicles of Narnia aloud to us. This was my first introduction to fantasy, and that event lead to a love of the genre being instilled in me. It was further cultivated when I read the The Hobbit at age 11. To this day it remains my favorite genre.

  26. You meant to instill fear into me. Pump silver into my veins until the blood thickened and turned molten and gooey, like metallic porridge, served to no one’s appetite. Make me feel like I was immobile and alone – contorted at an awkward angle for your advantage and enjoyment.

    But you failed. My blood turned back to gold, and I struck you soundly with my open hand. You toppled into the asphalt with caved in cartilage and punctured pity. I loved hearing your scream.

  27. They try to make you into something you’re not. They try to instil within you that which you already know isn’t true. They hold on to your jaw and force feed you all that they want you to believe. They erase your mind, they morph your soul. At first you try to resist, but after a while, you just get tired and give in. Because lying is easier that being true to yourself.

  28. To instill fear in the world. That was his obvious goal. Though he would deny it vehemently. Why would he want such a thing? He would argue. There’s just no fun in something like that. Not when people would flinch away at his every movement and quietly bow and scrape and get all he wished done. No, he replied, much better to instill hatred.
