  5. ‘What can I offer you,’ he said, with a wry sort of smile. He knew full well what was on offer. She just wasn’t in a position to buy. What a charmer! Without the boyish smile, despite the receding hair, his face in repose could seem a little – what was the word? – slimy.

  8. What do I have to offer? A sheepish smile, a somewhat cute face, an awkward, clumsy personality. This is nothing. Maybe in cute, romantic movies, the characters like myself is the one who experience the adventure and the epic romance, but in reality – people like me are the ones who stay at home and daydream their lifes away.

  9. Your offer to me was overwhelming. I knew better than to fall for your tricks. But the twinkle in your eye as you smiled at me was captivating. For a brief second I imagined a life where I ran away with you. My hand overlapped in yours and my worries far behind me. Our love had the power to seize my heart and leave me helpless. It was nearly impossible to let the negative ramifications of leaving behind college and my family flow through my mind. But they soon came. While your love for me could nourish and sustain me for now, eventually it would fade.

  19. The street was thick with smoke, it crowded the air and filled your lungs with a film of grease. The sidewalks were grimy and covered in filth. The tall well dressed man walked with purpose his shiny shoes hitting the pavement with bravado. As he walked a small huddled shape emerged from the smoke. A small boy was crouched under porch steps, his hair was thick and long and his face was thin and covered in dirt. The man stopped abruptly and walked slowly to the boy. The boy scooted under the steps and hid his face. The man said nothing but smiled kindly and stooped down to the boys level. He then pulled out one large shiny gold coin and offered it to the boy. The boy as though sensing the presence of money whipped his head up and seeing the piece, smiled largely and then took the coin lovingly and caressed it in his hands. The man straightened up turned and continued on his original course, now with a small smile and a new light in his eyes.

  24. The offer was better than he expected yet something about it still didn’t feel right. Why were they so quick to put it on the table after weeks of stalling? They didn’t even want to set a date for the meeting until two days ago. They were trying to pull something, but Bill couldn’t quite figure out what it was, not yet anyway, and so as he took contract, a smile concealed his fears as surely as his words did, “I’ll take it back to the board and see what they think.”
