  1. The landscape was so overt. I could see beyond me for years! It was so majestic and beautiful.

    by Erin on 03.15.2013
  2. his love for her was overt. he was constantly afraid of how much he love but it didn’t stop him from showing his passion for her eyes. the way her hips swayed to that new maroon 5 song. or even when she screamed at him for silly things like forgetting to change the toilet paper roll. he loved her overtly and without shame. i want that kind of love.

    by Melody Estevez on 03.15.2013
  3. She is like the sun, blinding and obvious and you cannot see anything but her. Stop staring. You’re only making a fool of yourself. Everyone can see you sitting in the corner with your craters, trying to hide that dark side of your soul that no one will ever love. Stop trying, because you will never be her.

  4. Would living overtly be living with the innermost sections of your soul laid bare to the world? Or is living overtly simply the false face we all put on in the morning?

  5. “Your feelings about the matter were very…overt to the superintendent.”

“Good. They were meant to be.”

Barry sighed and looked over his shoulder. Behind him was the clusters of sixth graders who had relied on my words at the board meeting. They saw me and waved emphatically. One of them, who was wearing a full-blown set of headgear, flashed me a thumbs up.

“I just want you to realize what sort of commitment you’re going into here,” he reminded me.

  6. It is all over the place. It is out there, he said. A shocking myriad place full of crazed men. They swagger about with their subdued rage and they shout. Oh how they shout. It is a mockery to this fine place. The strange smell of insanity hangs about.

    by Shane on 03.15.2013
  7. He was overt about his arrival. Little did anyone from the firm no he was going to be at the dinner. When his timer went off he realized he overslept. Moving from the bed to the bathroom caused him pain. What will they all think? Will they see the change. Six years since he came to one of these meetings. Much has happened and so much has stayed the same. One thing for sure, he did not believe the way he did six years ago. His faith had been stretched at the lose of the one he had loved the most. Where was this God he had claimed to love when she was taking her last breath.

  8. patrick greene
    born on st. patrick’s day

he does not understand when i say thank you so many times
    i don’t really either

  9. this seems to derive from the french word ouvert, the adjective from ouvrir, to open. i love languages. they are a beautiful miracle

  10. I can’t believe the kid overtly poured hot coffee all over the camel! Yes, yes. You’re thinking that’s some sort of overt euphemism, but, in point of fact, she overtly poured hot coffee on a camel!

First of all, where did she get a camel? Some zookeeper, or Arab, overtly gave it to her so that she could overtly pour hot coffee on him! Disgusting!

  11. Grabbing him by the hand, she led him out of the restaurant and out onto the sidewalk. The wind whipped her hair and stung her cheeks, but she kept marching on. Finally, she turned and glared at him. He stared back in wide-eyed bewilderment. “How could you?” She spat. “What?” he responded, feigning casualty, “I thought we agreed it was okay to bring dates. That was part of us staying friends.” “Yes, but…” Here her voice faltered as she stared into the hazel eyes she loved so much, using her anger to mask her hurt, not realizing he was using his arrogance to hide his. “…you…you don’t have to be so overt about it!” With that she strode off before he could see the tears that were threatening to spill over. He stared after her, his mouth open but no sound coming out. The love letter he’d written for her was still folded in his palm.

  12. over the top extreme more hideen circle round strange unsual unexpected confusing dramtic tired welness scray no time oh no orange round

  13. From wrist to elbow her arms were covered in bangles of all different sizes and origins, the metals and woods clinking together obnoxiously. Her hair was pulled up, for once, but tied back with a gaudy ribbon – and was that a bell?! I shook my head. I don’t think she could have been any MORE overt if she tried.
    So much for being subtle.

  14. The yellow flowers
    in their overt comeuppance
    of the spring time throngs
    fell fearlessly to the ground
    after three days in bloom
    then a new bud
    a new sprout
    stands against the tide
    fearless in his opportunity
    to sprout, bloom, and flourish
before falling softly to their rest

  16. his words touched the dancing sunlight in the dustfilled room. gazing through the keyhole, she sensed a passionate beauty. yet so.. dark. how could it be?

  17. Classical music softly diffused all around in the old, majestic hall. Nick and his friend were met by an old fashioned butler, very Jeeves-like, Nick noticed with a certain marveled astonishment, and told to wait while they were being announced.
The place itself was meant to impress the people who came in visit. And Nick surely was impressed.
“Hey, look at that marble staircase…that’s huge,” he whispered to his older friend. “And the portraits…wow, look at those curtains, must be velvet or something like that,” he went on, wide eyed, waving a hand in the direction of the burgundy brocade that partly covered the wall at their right.
    “Bach,” Milton replied, clearly unimpressed.
Nick interrupted the close exam of the stern looking noble in the portrait on his left, and frowned. “Huh?”
“Overture no. 3, in D major.”
Nick just stared at him, confused.
“The music. It’s Bach,” Milton explained, exasperated, but also a little amused by his friend awe. “Just good, old Bach.”

  18. A word I usually don’y hear people use that much anymore… It’s sad how the media hasn’t improved their vocabulary that much during the years.
“The most overt things should be most prominent- that is if you look at it the right way.”
    -Me; Maria V.

  19. Sometimes in life, the big issues aren’t always overt. We like to focus on details, without seeking out the bigger picture. Putting bandaids over symptoms, instead of fixing the illness. Sometimes it isn’t obvious, but we need to pull our heads up sometimes, and see what’s going on instead of keeping our noses down and trying to fix the world one bill at a time.

  20. It is overt. As overt as it can be and still I refuse to see it. I’m keeping that hope alive that there is another reason. I guess, my heart does. My mind sees the obvious. Stop

  21. Overt. Overt. What does that even mean? Quite simply, like his hand near mine, or his face near mine; I can’t describe it. I can’t explain it at all.
Words are lost in my mind; and overt, it’s one of them . If I could, I’d define it; I’d define him. I’d place him in a bottle just to sit and wonder.

  22. Idk sounds like oval but at the same time it does not
It’s like we are over but we’re drinking tea in the end

    by Anna on 03.15.2013
  23. What the heck does overt even mean? It sounds pretty strange indeed. I say it means when there are people standing on something and someone else jumps over them.

  25. She did an overt take on the circle of trees, where were they?

  26. Overt. A lot. Too much? Not quite, but close. Overtly shy? Is that a contradiction? Time is running out and I have nothing to say about Overt. Should I say more? Is that counting in ten second chunks? I’m overtly concerned about the time limit. There isn’t enough time. I think it is, though. one minute and I’ve four lines with nothing about the word Overt.

    by Sasha on 03.15.2013
  27. Not covert. Like your dislike for some people.

  28. It wasn’t an overtly terrifying smile, but there was definitely something sinister about it. It was the glassy eyes, perhaps, though they were easily attributed to the fever he had come down with a couple days ago. Perhaps his mouth was open a bit too wide? His teeth were very sharp, after all.

  29. work walking wondering why
    when i wake i dream
and when i sleep i stagnate
    the wish wants

    by Catnip on 03.15.2013
  31. I was blatantly rude to her. I wasn’t paying much attention to begin with, but the fact that I was writing (more or less AT her) was the last straw. She finally said something. “You know, it’s not appreciated how you’re treating me.”

    by Rocket Man on 03.15.2013
  32. Overt sounds a lot like the word over. It also reminds me of the word ogre which is what Shrek is. I only like the first two movies though but the first is still the best in my opinion.

    by Catman on 03.15.2013
  33. Overt. Covert. Overtly. Subversive. Confusing. Ovaries. Ovation. Confusion. I already said that right? Not sure where I’m headed or where I’ve been thus far. Overtly confusing. Over confusing. Over it.

    by Marlena on 03.15.2013
  34. She was that kind of girl, the one who is overt about all of her attractions, going up to any and all males leaning aggressively on the bar, shouting for drinks. She’d show a little of this, a little of that, and they’d be following her out. But he sat in the corner, just watching the show every Friday night.

  36. Why is “over” a part of “overt?” Possibly because once the mystery is gone, once everything has become overt, once the subtext has been replaced by definitive statements, the game is pretty much up.

    by Elizabeth on 03.15.2013
  37. “is there such a thing as overt conversations?”
    “Conversations?”
“Operations, sorry. Overt operations. you know like you have covert operations, like spies and stuff, and then you’ve got overt operations?”
“I’m pretty sure that anything that isn’t covert is overt.”
    “Right….”

  38. he was overtly cautious about approaching her. She’s beautiful, and he put her on a pedestal in the sky. He thought about her, dreamt about her, but never was able to physically talk about her. Everything about her screamed beautiful, innocence, and love. He just wanted to connect, and see what coudl happen. Just to touch her just once…

  39. overt

a foreign word i’d never heard.

  40. Spectacular. Huge. Too big? Opposite to hobbits, similar to giants. Like a whale, a forest, a mountain. One can argue that their size is what makes them so spectacular.
