It also provides the nutrients from the roots to the stamen, pistol, and petals. Stems are found not just in flowers but in other plants, serving the same purpose.

The word “stem” however can be used in a variety of ways, usually representing an extension away from the origin, much like the stem is an extension away from the root of a plant. For example, one could say that a cold could have stemmed from an extended period out in the cold. This is to suggest that there is a direct link from the period spent outside, to the cold one receives.

  32. The accident lasted only 2 seconds but the effects will last until my time is done. Sitting staring at the ceiling I can only feel the tips of my toes. Leaving my house my mom reminded me about wearing a helmet but I was too ignorant and stupid to listen. Now, my brain stem is no longer responsive like I was to my mothers request.

  40. The start of something. It’s sort of plain, but it gets you to the flower, the pretty part. It’s not the best part of the journey and it is often ignored, but it’s vital. You couldn’t have the best part of the plant without it. It’s sort of like life. You have this long boring part, but then, it is all worth it, because you reach that beautiful, perfect part.
