  2. When I was in 4th grade, a crazy teacher from the 5th grade came to our classroom as we were filing in for lunch and told us it would take 30 years for a straw to decompose in a landfill. That it would only decompose half way, and then it would take another 30 years to break down another half way. I think she got plastics and nuclear waste confused, but I still feel guilty whenever I use a straw.

  3. She told him that this was the last straw. He drank from a small flask, through a straw. He ignored it. He didn’t even have to look at her to know it wasn’t really anymore. He didn’t know what he was saying anymore. He couldn’t look at her in the eyes, and know that the one was somewhere else, not next to him, not in love with him.

  11. i love straw. straw makes hay or vice versa im not sure. horses eat straw in barns or in fields but more so in barns. straw is made in fields or dried grass which is in fields where horses are. I like straw its fun except when you lose needles in it! Straw is dry but by gum its fun to play with. Or to make scarecrows! :) A plastic straw or the hay kinda straw im not sure but oh well.

  14. Straws come in many different colors, I am thinking that my favorite color is probably a tealish blue turquoise color. If I had a straw of that color, I would probably want to drink vanilla coke out of it. Caffiene would probably be a good thing for me right now. I’ve had a couple of cups of coffee earlier, but am craving soda. Maybe that is why I am getting fat.

  17. When i was younger, I used to take a straw and chew on it as though it were a cigar or some kind of cigarette. I of course never had the guts to try smoking, and nor am I inclined to start now, but straws have always been a nice alternative for me. Oh, and they’re good for drinking.

When they’re hand-made, sometimes they carry a pinch of love along with. If they’re bought, well, they still carry the style, and much of the meaning.

  30. hats can be made out of straw. You drink out of straws. Sometimes things come to the last straw as my mom says. When you are at your wits end. I don’t like being at my last straw. It normally is an uncomfortable situation. I would like a straw hat though, they are pretty cool. So yeah, straw…

  32. one time i saw a piece of straw and fed it to a camel. He didn’t like it much. Guess he usually eats alphalfa. No matter. He ate it and turned a sickly color of green. Then i realized it wasn’t much of straw at all. It was a snake. A brown thin snake. I killed my camel. He poofed into a cloud of smoke and the straw seemed to blow and laugh.

Straw is hope and promise but it’s so simple some people don’t realize it. But it’s there, beautiful like green grass and everything.

  39. Straws are something that I LOVE to use mainly because when I have a beverage, I hate it when the ice touches my teeth, so straws are very useful. I buy very colorful straws from Harris Teeter!

  40. my dad makes milkshakes a lot. so i guess the word straw makes me think of them because he always gives me a straw. and you cant bend them if theyre bendy because theyll break.
