  1. being strong isn’t about having muscles or a strong body. to be truly strong, one must have strength in their soul. they must be strong even when it’s the hardest thing in the world. strength is a heart thing, not a body thing. it is the courage to keep going when you have every reason to stop.

  2. I wish I had strength. Everyone around me is always falling apart and I’m always the strength that holds every one up. Keeps everyone together. Sometimes I need someone to have some strength for me too, you know? I can’t be like this forever. I’m my own strength. When I’m hiding in my room, crying my own eyes out, I’m the only person who is able to pick myself back up. I thought my boyfriend might be able to help me out with that, seeming as he just said he loved me. I thought that meant that he would support me, shield me, help me, love me… but no.

  3. What a mother needs when her kids are sick, the bills are due, she’s missed 2 days of work to care for the kids, groceries are down to ramen, and now all the kids are fighting and whining and the cat puked on the bed and the dog ate the puke. Strength.

  4. Strength isn’t always some weight lifter with huge muscles, or a guy from Jersey. Strength can mean many things. I always like to think of the women in third-world countries, like India. They are considered nothing in their culture, and go through such hardships, but they always find something to smile about.

    by Cassie on 04.05.2011

  9. whoa. strength can be used in a pretty versatile way. it could be physical strength – how many weights you can lift – or how strong you are emotionally. how many insults or words you can take, how long it would take to break you. strength varies in every heart and muscle. every. single. one.

  10. muscle. willpower; both physical and phycological. now which is more powerful? i am weak in both body and mind. here is my stereotype: the weak female ensnares the strong male to do her bidding; and so i do.

  11. strength. the ability to push on, to push through no matter the circumstances. what God gives you. the courage to face anything. the courage to admit that you can’t face everything. what you have at the end of the day. what friendship and family gives you.

And strength keeps moving when words cannot. I have a meek voice.. my voice still holds me high with all it’s strength.

  16. strength lies in numbers
but they always say in school it’s quality over quantity
so then what should a person do with that?
could an army of one person defeat an army of 300?
    or is that idealistic, perhaps?
    or, even,
is that person strong because the have the bravery of 300 men
    in just one body.
    food for thought, I suppose.

  21. strength is the power one has to do great feats, whether they be good or evil is detrermined by the strong person. some consider strength to be having the power/will-power to do great good. this could be considered true although strength is also needed for evil, although then the strength is often acquired by untrue means.

  23. The horses burst out of the gates. Running towards the finish line as dirt fills the eye line. Pounding hooves and thundering crowds. Racing for the end. Strength is in the legs. The underdog steers forward. The crowd rises in anticipation, they fall in awed creation as the line is crossed by the one who was never expected.

  24. There is a song on Hilary Duff’s first album called Inner Strength. It is a great song sung by a relatively underrated pop star. But the song is very symbolic. We all have inner strength and it is sort of like the cancer gene. Inner strength is always there inside but it needs to be turned on to activate.

  29. Wow. Strength is strange. Internal and external. It can tie the self to the world or break your bones from the inside. There is nothing it cannot accomplish, so long as it has direction. So long as you do.

  30. Strength is an interesting thing. I think for most people, the physical aspect of strength comes to mind when they see this word. However, I have found another meaning to strength, the mental aspect. It’s funny because I discovered this as I was training for the 10k marathon, a physical task.

  31. Forgetting everything. Believing in yourself. Letting him go even when it hurts so much. Being there for people who need you. Not being jealous of others when you know it is your fault. Making excuses for others, being loyal. Pulling yourself together when you are falling apart. Lifting your head, holding it high above the haters.

    Letting it go.

    Letting it all go.

  39. Strength was not the same as power or speed. A fighter could be good with just one or two of the three, maybe even superior with all three. But the fighter who knew proper technique – yes, she would be the one to prevail.

So he sat back and watched, waited, amused at the crowd’s snap judgment. He had trained them both, and he knew precisely which one would win.

And by heavens, he’d put every last penny on her.
