SHE AND I WENT TO THE PARK WE HAD SO MUCH FUN PLAYING ON THE SLIDES AND SWINGING SHE FEEL OFF THE SWING AND SHE HURTED HERSELF AND HER MOTHER TOOK HER TO THE DOCTOR
They, themselves, didn’t know what hat hit them. Their world came crashing down around them. No clue of what to do, they just looked at each other, different emotions crossed their faces. As if they were sending telepathic messages between themselves.
People only care about themselves. But, is this actually a bad thing? I mean we live our whole life in our bodies, nobody elses. So, surely we should only care about us? And what is best for us? It is has been known to be a ‘selfish’ way of thinking but if contemplate it for long enough, it makes sense.
They themselves had been there many times. They had seen this room. They knew it’s contents by heart and could close their eyes and point to each element of the room. The green wallpaper. The yellow stairs.
People love themselves! I am my biggest fan and I think if we were all honest we would agree that is true. Not that it’s a bad thing though. I think you can’t fully love someone else if you don’t fully love yourself first. It is the root of a lot of insecurities and failed relationships
Saddened by the way they destroyed everything they loved, they ultimately hated themselves the most, cracked and frayed at the seams of their bodies joined in unison, loosening threads
they held themselves by the fire they had made out of old mcdonalds wrappers they had found on the street when what they really wanted was a hamburger even if it had already been bitten even if it was on the floor because though their hands were warm their stomachs were cold and empty
they were alone the light in the hallway flickered incessantly and there was nothing either of them could do about it sweat poured from everywhere and the fly buzzed angrily in little groups biting them from head to two.
They thought to themselves, “at least we’re not as pathetic as those losers over there.” But then it hit them, that there was something that happened last year that it fact HAD made them pathetic, and if not pathetic, then at least a bit pitiful, particularly in the eyes of those they looked down on.
People always think about themselves. They don’t seem to care enough to go out of themselves and help others. People care about themselves in a sort of pattern anyone can see if they look in the right way. As a result of thinking of themselves and what’s best for themselves, people want to fit in. They want to be normal. What is normal? Normal is everyone talking about politics on election day and not for the rest of the year. Normal is both parents working full time and putting their kids into day care. Normal is eating foods without questioning their health value. Normal is using politics to get ahead in the workplace instead of ability or experience. Normal is politicians soliciting campaign contributions and taking money from lobbyists. Normal isn’t good for anyone in the long run but has significant short run returns on investment. Individuals, look out for themselves by hurting others. This lets us see a themselves versus others paradox. The normal is caring for yourself ahead of others, which hurts everyone eventually. Counter to this is caring for others, which eventually leads to everyone even yourself being better off. So should be be content with ourselves and what’s normal?
