  1. sitting on the top shelf by the fireplace. dusty. useless. a sign of progress and accomplishment, now forgotten. there are no trophies in real life, no news is good news. There is no pat on the back once you get out of little league for your small successes.

  2. The trophy sat high atop the bookshelf in the living room for all to see, but it was all a lie. He wasn’t talented, he wasn’t special. That trophy was all luck; he was lucky that someone got sick, he was lucky that someone fell. Now it sat there staring him in the face every day, reminding him of what a failure he truly was, because this one success wasn’t real.

  3. I got a trophy in school. I was playing baseball and got several trophies. They are great to remind you of your efforts and successes. What else can I say about trophies?? They are pretty cool to have. You can put them on a shelf in your room.

    by Tara on 07.18.2011
  4. trophy. outward accomplishments. it does not represent how I feel on the inside. I am better than the best. my accomplishments cannot be described in just half of a rushed sentence. I am better than the best. I do not need a trophy to know this.

  5. Bailey is going to be a trophy wife.
I am going to have at least three trophies on the bookshelf in my study one day- All Tony’s of course; maybe throw in an Oscar.
The only trophy I’ve ever won, however, has been for a spelling bee in the fifth grade and I kind of won by default when the other kid ran offstage crying and puked from nerves.

  6. I once got a trophy for something I didn’t do. It was golf. My sister gave it to me for 5 dollars and one of my favorite shirts. But i loved that trophy. More than anything, actually. It was a reminder of self esteem that I didn’t have. Eve though it wasn’t even mine.

  7. Trophies are a sign of victory. You have won something, you have achieved something great, now you can remember and share your accomplishment with others, to pass on that wonderful feeling, and keep it always dear to you. You will never forget that moment, thanks to this trophy.

    by Amy on 07.18.2011
  8. I am a trophy. trophy. trophy. phony. bologna. into me. trophy. lie to me. my pride. trophy.

    by Zac on 07.18.2011
  9. It gathers dust as it sits alone on the shelf. Empty and tarnished. Better to claim a prize of love and lasting relationships that never grow dull or out of style.

    by Janet on 07.18.2011
  10. Athletics is my sport and it can show you the world, only if you are dentermained enough. You will sucecced. Determination and dedication is the key.

    by Talia on 07.18.2011
  11. The trophy of my grandfather’s tennis matches in days of old gathers dust on my dresser in the corner of my room. Alongside are the medals I won over years of taekwondo tournaments (all for forms, no sparring), covered in a protective layer of their own. The certificates of my myriad accomplishments post all across my walls and signify to one who doesn’t know better that I had achieved a great many things in the short years of my existence.

  12. i’ve never won trophy before. Never had I wanted to either. The hidious gold and silver looking things sitting ont the shelf so useless and hopeless. I often wondered why people kept them. What value do they hold? A gift card would be better,in my opinion. Maybe even a t-shirt, and I hate t-shirts.

    by Adri on 07.18.2011
  13. He hoisted the trophy over his head like he’d won it before. It shined under the ceiling lights and the world watched as his eyes slowly shut and he tumbled down the stairs. Many people asked what had happened on that fateful day, but no one would ever know about the pain he had just ended.

    by Dan on 07.18.2011
  14. I’m not your trophy. I won’t be. People are people, not things to be won. When you learn to love me, I’ll come back. But as long as this is all I am to you, your trophy case will be empty.

    by Alicia on 07.18.2011

For being the Queen of the world…

  18. Those old dusty trophies sit on my mantle like super stars. I wish someone would tell them that all they are are hunks of plastic.

  19. I want to be more than this. Then again, it’s not really a worry of mine. I’m not that attractive to only be desired for my physical traits. The straightforward kind of trophies are nice too… I wish I had more from sports and everything.

  20. “You make one small move and you’re going to end up my trophy, mister,” the little angel said in a squeaky voice. Jensen could see that the safety was still on and so reacted so casually as to not even care about the device pointed at him, which clearly irked the young girl. In the next instant, Jensen heard the light metallic click of the safety being release, and decided he should feign just a little more respect for the little creature.

  21. it was shiny in its case
    a little dusty too
it reminded him of past glory
    of distant victory
of someone he used to be

    the trophy was locked up
and he barely ever touched it.

  22. my best wish come true, mvp of the basketball team. of course, we were the worst team in the conference, but that doesn’t matter. i had learned teamwork, and leadership, and friendship. that’s what counted.

  23. I won the trophy in third grade. It was stupid, really. A talent competition for third graders, that means absolutely nothing in the scheme of things. But for some reason, to this day it is still my proudest moment. I remember stepping up there in my pink tutu and going through a routine I had practiced for weeks in my bedroom, annoying my family to no end.

  24. A trophy, a shining object. Power. Strength. Experience. People associate trophies with their ability to win. A trophy is a prize worth having, something that while it seems so important at the time is just another temporal object to disappear from your shelf or sit in your attic. A trophy, the prize that everyone wants.

  25. I have never received a trophy. i have always wanted to and be able to say I have accomplished something. Thing is I never wanted to go out and do something. My dad has old baseball trophies on his shelf in his garage that I adore!

  29. Shine shine on my little trophy wife. Why do you think I married you? It’s your shining eyes and golden hair. Good thing your blonde. Blondes always look good. I hope the jokes are true – it’s always better when you don’t talk. Just smile. Laugh. You’re prettier when you laugh. But whatever you do, just don’t cry. Your mascara runs and no one likes to deal with that.

  30. trophy
    the shining colors of gold
    its contours reflecting the light
    with its curvatures
    it majestically sits
    on top of a shelf
    boasting its hard-earned glory
    for all to admire
    trophy

  31. I couldn’t believe I had won. It was like a dream freaking come true. Why the heck would they have chosen MY work? Who knows. I didn’t care, that didn’t matter. My breathing was quick, I reached for the golden cup and cuddled it softly. MY trophy. MINE. All mine. I won, not anyone else. I WON. And I was gonna be gosh-darn proud of it.

  32. I smile as my baby boy runs over to me, holding the golden plastic prize over to me. He yells that he’s won and he’s happy. I hug him, kissing his cheek. I think about all the people who thought my son wouldn’t do anything useful, thinking he’d be a slow boy for the rest of his life. Not only had he won most valuable player on his tee-ball team, but he had made many friends, something that didn’t happen in school. That was the best trophy of all.

  33. trophy defines an accomplishment
whether or not this accomplishement is desirable…for examply a booby prize.
trophies are a physical reassurance to people, a reminder of their accomplishments.
to me, those who really remember and treasure their own self worth dont need trophies.
how much an accomplishment is valued should be determined by the accomplisher, not the size of a marble and plastic statue

  34. I’ve never had a trophy in my life. It would be good to have one though. I mean once in a while I do get a ‘metaphorical’ trophy. But a real one, NEVER!

  35. She looked at the stained old silver trophy and laughed out loud, what is this for she thought and tossed it in the just go away bin.

  36. She brushed her hair up into a tight bun, one that would hide all the bald patches. Her long sleeves hid the burns, her makeup inexpertly hid the bruises. She clenched her shaking hands into fists, trying to stop the trembling so that the coffee cup wouldn’t rattle. He hated it when she made any noise, after all. She headed for the stairs, thinking, “Sometimes, it’s hard, being a trophy wife…”

  37. Trophy. Trophy wives. Winning. Winning, losing, failing. Striving? I don’t know. I think of the bad times, the good times. The best of times and the worst of times, who said that.. Dickens? Great Expectations come with trophies, bad expectations receive.. nothing. This is all bull, but maybe it makes somewhat sense? Who knows.

  39. Trophies are always related to sports because when you when, you want gold. It makes you feel happy. But what if when you win you got silver instead. That might make you feel happy. It will surely calm you down. Gold is like a party.
