the vase had too many sunflowers in it that the sunflowers started to fall out. no more could fit into the vase of sunflowers. to the extent that the stalks on the sunflowers were chafing green
the vase stood at the end of the hallway as it always had. there was nothing particularly new or strange about it, it was just the vase that had been there as long as anyone could remember. but, although the vase had lived its whole life in the plain little house at the end of the hallway, no one had taken the time to notice the crack at its base.
you put flowers in it. sometimes they break, and the water, if you bothered, spills out, and the flowers fall to the floor. but usually there’s just flowers in it. They stand tall and strong. it happens to the best of us. You know how it is.
So easily shattered
Just one slip
And it’s done
A million pieces
No repair in site
