  6. The last time I visited her, her eyes showed she was somewhere else. I knew she was in there, some where. Unable to come out to be with me as she was lost and wondering inside.

I painted her nails and combed her hair. I sat with her, with my head on her shoulder. I like to think the smallest little bit of her left knew it was me. Knew I was there. Knew that I loved her. I hope I was able to comfort the little piece left of this dazzling woman. Amazed how that little piece left, comforted me.

  7. To remove yourself from one place to another; usually for the purpose of seeing something or something. Or an excursion witha set time limit, ie. on holiday, for a ‘visit’.

  8. I visit the place in the back of my mind quite frequently. It welcomes me back with open arms, bright sun beams and the questions i dare to think about. If given all the time in the world to be here, though, i would still leave. The place in the back of my mind isn’t a place I should stay at long.

  11. i might
go for a while to sit
    but not smile
for the one he gives me
    is shadowed and worried
    does he know today
    will he know again
    can he see me or
    is it just a face,
my hair and brown eyes that look nothing like his
    but my teeth and nose
    my face, is his.

  12. They were coming. Family. Opponents, Masters. He didn’t know how to prepare for the emotional onslaught he knew he’d experience on their arrival. All he could do was block the fear, the throttling feeling that they would realize he was not good enough to host them.

  13. lay down your walls,
    your swords,
    your “fuck you’s”
    and “maybe laters”
    lay down
    your every reason why
    we can’t
    just act like nothing happened
    act like old times
    and just
    sit
    and talk
    and visit
    and just be us
    again.

“Where are you going?” She’d ask, when she saw him shrugging on his coat.
And he’d give a vague answer, always

  16. Time always seemed to speed up when I was there. I would blink and then it would be time to leave. There should be some scientific law to explain it. If I was better at that sort of thing I would come up with a theory of time rapidation when visiting home. I don’t think rapidation is a word, but when you’re a scientist testing these sort of things isn’t that one of the perks you get? Making up words?

  17. To visit is to say hello to an old friend, have them hug you like they haven’t seen you in a billion years, and welcome you to their humble abode. To visit is to cautiously take a step inside, kick off your casual shoes that you scrubbed the night before so you wouldn’t seem like a hobo, and compliment their decorating. To visit is to sit politely on their shaggy couch, cross your legs, one over the other, and smile charmingly at the couple. To visit is to begin talking, small talk at first, but as the conversation continues, verbal diarrhea comes into play sight the both of you. To visit is to laugh at the old times and reminisce about the life you two shared, all of the complications and beauties of a forever lasting friendship. To visit is to look at the time and wish you could have a couple more hours. To visit is to say good bye once again, faces beaming from the after effects of a good time. You say good bye, hop into your car, and drive away, looking back on the visit.

  19. He didn’t expect it- this visit from an old friend, and he didn’t know quite how to respond. He sat and he stared at the man, a bit, wondering what had happened to him between then and now and wondering if the ease they had once had around each other would return.

  20. The speckles of rain hit against the car window and I stare out, bored and a little sick. Being on the road for twelve hours can do that. But I know, when I see the look on my grandmother’s face, it is worth it.

  27. Heading up North to see the grandparents – the 4.5 hour long drive just long enough to be a pain in the ass, especially over a regular weekend – not worth, it really, unless there is at least another half day tacked on – and the kid so excited to see them, bouncing in the back seat for the first half hour before hopefully falling asleep – leaving only the last half hour of “I WANT OUT, I WANT OUT” to deal with.
