  1. I thought about the welfare of my children and decided not to go down a path of regret.

  2. I watch the people walking by. They don’t realize the value of what they have. They have shelter, lights, food, water. Moreover, they have people, people who care. I am only a nuisance to society. I am less than that; I am nothing. It would make no difference to the world if I just disappeared. Maybe I will. That’s one less person’s welfare to worry about.

  3. Well its not fair that its like this but we make decisions based on it

    life preserved by life.

    Should we or shouldnt we

Some people need our help, and I will.

  4. Welfare is a great program that helps plenty of people. Although, too many people take advantage of it, not because they consciously choose too, but because if you give somebody something for free, they will not treat it with respect.

  5. Welfare sucks. I hate being on welfare. It embarrasses me so badly. It’s not even funny. When the postman shows up on the porch carrying that welfare check each month I hide my face cause he’s the daddy of Janice from school. Janice is popular and she’s not on welfare. It is so embarrassing.

  7. I am just trying to look out for you. I remember those words so clearly, I knew how wrong they were. I don’t know what it’s intentions were but they most certainly had nothing to do with my well being. That thing, whatever it was, is evil.

  8. Living payment to payment.
Never going out, never buying luxuries, never living as life was meant to be lived.
Barely enough to pay for rent, bills, food…
Certainly not enough to cover the doctors bills.
And so her health slips again.
Can’t hold down a job due to health.
Can’t make money without a job.
Can’t improve health without the doctors.
    Can’t pay the doctors.
The circle of our welfare system for those who are truly in need.

  9. Welfare. Child welfare. Animal welfare. Welfare.
Always unfailingly helping the vulnerable. Those in need.
But what about those who you can’t tell they’re in need?
The strong, the masked, those who are still standing?
    What shall help them?
What will happen if they fall?
Maybe we are too scared to answer that question and thus pretend it doesn’t need to be addressed and so we pretend it doesn’t exist.
    And so the strong weaken…

  10. The mail was late today. I scurried from the front door to the mailbox back to the front door through the haze of spring rain. I saw before I got inside: the check had come, we could eat.

Where everyone was equal, though some were more equal than others.

  15. A commitment.

The front desk man hands me my prescription.

    Diazepam, ten milligrams it says.

  17. My welfare is rather important to me, it’s my health, my physical being.

Welfare is not that important in the government, it is merely yet another program for those who have no money or the incentive to make it.

    by Bill Alain on 04.10.2013

  19. Social Security is not social welfare. It is social insurance to protect against poverty. Any changes such as means testing would defeat this vital goal of Social Security, which is why we must make sure such changes are not implemented.

  20. “You’re not considering the welfare of the people.”

“Welfare? Bah! Welfare is for lazy people.”

“Not the welfare program, you dolt. The people’s welfare. Their conditions.”

The Chancellor was not amused by any of his advisor’s words. He reclined back on his green cushioned chair and lit a cigar.

“What else would you have me do?” he demanded. “I can’t save or cure everyone’s suffering.”

“No,” said his advisor, “but you can definitely try a little harder.”

  21. Welfare is the provision of a minimal level of well-being and social support for all citizens, sometimes referred to as public aid. In most developed countries, welfare is largely provided by the government, in addition to charities, informal social groups, religious groups, and inter-governmental organizations.
Welfare can take a variety of forms, such as monetary payments, subsidies and vouchers, or housing assistance. Welfare systems differ from country to country, but Welfare is commonly provided to individuals who are unemployed, those with illness or disability, the elderly, those with dependent children, and veterans. A person’s eligibility for Welfare may also be constrained by means testing or other conditions.

  23. The welfare of the children should be foremost, but rarely does anyone ask the children what they think would be best. Parents in a divorce will lie, cheat, and manipulate to gain advantage over their ex- partner, but the children are probably the only ones who are truly looking out for their own interests.

“I don’t need your protection!” I declared, fed up with his overprotective nature. “I can take care of myself,”

  35. This is for my own welfare.
I write these words to protect myself from a world that wishes to totally
    disarm me
and expect me to like it
    I’m thinking always
    why
why does it have to be this way
