  1. Wrench. Yes, a very peculiar word indeed. To throw a wrench in plans. A monkey wrench. Going under the hood of a car with your trusty wrench in hand. If you take out the “R”, it’s wench, which is an entire different can of worms. Fixing things, fixing things is good. I wonder how much a wrench cost?

  3. I actually thought this word was wench, but it’s def not. Wrench, I don’t think of the tool originally, but I’m sure it seems that way, I think of “throwing a wrench” in plans, like being a complete screw up. Then the tool! But, ya know, I’m not well versed in my toolbox. Mechanics use wrenches.

  4. It wasn’t, in retrospect, the wisest maneuver, but what could I do? She was tied to that huge gear, grinding closer and closer to the spot where the huge cog tooth her head rested upon would come to intersect a similarly sized space between the teeth of another enormous cog, and I couldn’t bear the thought of what would happen. And the phrase was… well, you know the phrase, right? So I grabbed a huge monkey wrench off the wall. I threw it in.

    The grinding captured my horrified attention as it was warped beyond recognition; I could not bear to watch the source of the squishy crunching as she did the same.

    sometimes called a monkey wrench which can be an actual wrench or just a cause for something to be messed up and confused

  8. A tool. It’s used to pry things loose, like bolts. A symbolic wrench could be someone or something that loosens things as well. Perhaps someone taking something apart, or destroying things.

  9. Wrench is a tool, but also an action, as when someone wrenches something from my hand, or my heart wrenches in pain. It is always a loosening, a taking away, never a giving or an adding to something else. It can be a tightening, though too.

  10. I used to have a wrench in the tool kit but it got lost. It eneded up somewhere on the bottom of Big Star Lake when we were putting in docks. It’s not that I can’t get another on but that one was special.

  14. when somethings going perfect. then you just have something come between. a division, a distraction. A wrench. ironically enough wrenches fix bolts and cars, but thrown into your life, and they can ruin anything.

  15. wrench…it’s a funny word. when you say it enough times you begin to wonder if it’s actually a work or if it’s something you’ve made up. I think it’s a tool…used for tightening and loosening bolts or something. sounds like wench…a pirates prostitute. i like it…i like the wre- sound at the beginning. it’s satisfying to say

  21. A wrench can be defined as a tool used to help fuse things together. However, in my experience, it has been used to help bond people together. My father and I would spend hours in the garage, building things that we could use on a sunny day. Swingsets, patio sets, anything you can think of. So, instead of viewing this tool as a a mechanism for objects, view it as a mechanism for people. We all need to spend some alone time with people we love. So, why not build something together?

  33. It was easy for me to lose my tools. My garage was a total mess, and I was really too lazy to fix it.
    More than anything, I needed that damned wrench. Had to get this job done. My daughter wasn’t going to help me, which sucked, but nothing much you can do about teenaged girls. My son was at football practice.

    My wife? At work.
    Figured.

    Maybe if I bought a new wrench, I’d be more careful. I’d put it on its own little shelf, love it forever, and never let it out of my sight.

  38. Stuck in something…I need a wrench to work it out. Work out this problem, and I don’t even know how I got here. A car? why would I need a wrench. It’ll do me no good in the long run. I try to find something to do with it, but I’m at a loss. My time is running out with this wrench, it becomes too heavy and I’m not sure where to go with it.

  40. I used a wrench the other today to try and get my toilet seat of of the toilet. I tried and tried to get that feicin seat of the toilet. It just wouldnt budge. No matter how hard I tried, I just kept using the wrench to get it off. “Shit!”, said I.
