5 Entries for “wharf”

  1. Crisp autumn air wafting scents of salt and industry. We would peer out into the vastness, pointing at seagulls and laughing at fish, a new city smiling warmly at our backs.

  2. The waves eat the piers, water trickling down mountains of barnacles, the snoring of water, children with flip flops in hand, standing on stones, peering below

  3. I stood on the edge of the wharf in my finest dress, wishing that my husband would arrive. I had not seen him in months, and I was wracked with fear that something had happened to him on his voyage. A storm, or pirates, or a great sea beast, or any matter of calamities could have struck him and his men down in their boat, and I could not be alone for the rest of my life. I refused to be without him.

  4. They walked down the wharf. He said that he had something to talk with her and she wondered whether this was why he was acting to strange the past few weeks. They got to the end. The tide was coming in, and he leaned towards her. “I know that you are all reading my thoughts. This has to stop.” He pushed her off the wharf into the churning water.

  5. It was a foggy day out today. I loaded up my fishing boat, hoisted in the net, and sailed out. The wharf shrunk in size behind me, and I was ready to start my day. I looked ahead, seeing the hand rising from the surface of the water, engulfing the horizon. The fish were for him. The fish were his food. The fish were his sacrifice. I jumped in the water with the net, tangled myself in. I wanted to be his food.
