"I am happy... I am..."
"Are you though? Really?"
"Of course I am, you love me, I love you... It's right."
"But does it make you happy?"
"Yes... I think. It's a shock but I can deal with it, I always do."
"Babe, this isn't just a small thing. You can't just change your mind when you get bored. I need to know you'll stick around."
"I know... I know that. I just... Yes, I'm happy. A baby... Wow!"
A glittering drop of morning dew slid from an emerald shard of glass onto her bare knee. She flinched, it always made her jump when it's so quiet.
Dawn was her favourite time of the day, it was always so quiet, no people running around and making noise. She loved to imagine the beautiful golden sunrise that she would never see. Little did she know, she was sitting in a rubbish dump.
Dysfunctional... Yeah, I suppose that's one word to describe me. Compulsive, and a little bit crazy; but there we are, and that's the best way to be. Who would want to be boring and functional?
"Please..." She whimpered, "I...I need help..."
Voices boomed with sounds that made no sense to her, distant sounds that were so close and loud.
"I just... If I could just... Home... I want to go home..."
The three towering men glanced at her tear ridden face with cold, dead eyes, "No sweetheart, tonight you're coming with us."
The water trickled down the rocks glittering as it flowed… So close yet so far it was forbidden, untouchable…she mustn’t get to close or they’d see her. Those wonderful humans wouldn’t take well at the sight of her beautiful wings and tiny fairy frame.
The water trickled down the rocks glittering as it flowed... So close yet fatwas it was forbidden, untouchable...she mustn't get to close or they'd see her. Those wonderful humans wouldn't take well at the sight of her beautiful wings and tiny fairy frame.
"I'm not taking them off again..." The annoyance in her voice getting more and more evident.
"But Sarah... I don't get it."
"Don't get what?" She ripped the headphones off and snapped at her sister.
"I... I just don't get this..." She thrust out the letter from their mother, "Why doesn't she say she loves us?"
"I'm sorry sweetheart, she's not in a good place at the moment, go to sleep darling."
"She needs sustainance."
They kept repeating that word... Sustain... Sustainance... 'What does it mean?' She sat there clueless and afraid as they kept discussing that word.
"She has to be kept alive, we can't do it until they say we can and they haven't."
She didn't understand, can't do what?
"We can't switch her off yet. Not until her parents agree. They should hurry up and decide though, she's a lost cause and we need her bed."
It's a miracle...that I'm actually here...now. I didn't think I was going to walk away from that...I didn't think he was going to stop.
I've always thought there should be a law about that...smoking while driving.
He dropped the cigarette...I guess it was burning his lap. But... I didn't think he was going to stop the lorry, that moment, that terrifying moment...I thought I was going to die.
"I've got it covered."
"You sure? We can't afford any mistakes this time."
"Yes, now go! We haven't got much time!"
"I'm going, now. Remember the code word?"
"Don't worry, I know it, now go get that fiver back!"
