"What about Marley," I asked, watching the old man.
"It's too late for her Canson. We lost her long ago. Her heart and soul belonged to Rooney, and when he left, she left with him."
The sun was beginning to rise, sending shimmering diamonds onto the water.
"I miss her," I told him quietly, my voice trailing off.
"Nothing we can do now boy. The best we can do is giver her all our love. Act like we believe she is still here, still the same, even though she's not."
