The season was just right. As the man on top of the tower sniffed the air, a look of ferociousness conquered his face, completely crushing his desire to hide his true emotion from the peasants.
"It is time!!!" He yelled, as the chanting begun. The crowd fell silent and the clock struck midnight.
I wasn't sure what the word sate meant, but as I looked up into the man's face everything else seemed to dissapear.
"Sate?" his word broke through my haze.
I shook my head. "Sorry. I don't know that one."
"Perfect. That means you pass. I don't want a know it all as my wife." we both laughed.
"When's the wedding?"
"Tomorrow." as soon as the words left his lips, my men streamed in from all the doors and he was immediately held down. He tried to struggle, but it was no use.
"You, did not pass, however. You're under arrest for killing the prince and impersonating him."
"How'd you know?"
"He's already married."
"To whom?"
"Me."
He thought it was all a game. But as she stared down at his innocent face, she realized he would never see sunshine, never see the sky. Never see his father.
And it was her fault. As men in big black suits came to take him away, she felt cold metal against her hands and a man hold her back.
And they took her baby. Away. Forever.
She screamed out, and he realized it wasn't a game anymore, and...
it was her fault.
It was due time that she went to visit him in the laboratory. She climbed onto the moving sidewalk, sat there for a while, and then got off as it stopped at the lab. She hesitantly got off the sidewalk and proceeded into the building, she walked through a maze of glass rooms. Until she came to his.
Each time she saw him, it scared her thoroughly again.
His frail body, the same she had kissed and hugged and held hands with, now lay in a bed, unmoving with wires attached to it, and the accident came back into her mind and the memory made her wipe tears away.
Teeth. You use them to chew food. Your mom or dad buys the food from the store. But somebody makes the food. Some food was probably made grudgingly, when the person had something else to do. Whoever made the food you put into your teeth had real life problems, and worries.
You might even be eating a dead person's food, because they died after they made it.
And it all goes into your teeth, and you don't even think twice about it.
...
"Charge!" the commander yelled. His men took off down the hill as the bombs began, and people screamed. They ran around and carried the wounded back to the safe haven as the earth shook, and the everything went black. After a while, everyone woke up in a white room with one blad man standing in front of them
The scene before me makes me crumple to my knees: there are fires everywhere, and corpses litter the street. I start to run away, but I almost trip over a body. I look down, and it is my best friend.
A fawn jumps out in front of my car and I hit the brakes with a screeech! Luckily, the deer is unscathed. It frantically runs off, but I'm too distracted to notice. I get out of the car and spot the path where everyone and everything has led me. As I step out of the headlight's glare, i'm thrown into darkness.
A hundred eyes feast on the sight before us. Our Ruler has just dropped dead in front of us. I turn to look around the murmuring crowd. As I here "Ruler is dead, Ruler is dead." I spot the man who holds the smoking gun, just as everyone else turns to him. "He killed her." echoes through the stadium, and everyone's gaze turns to him. Finally over the shock, the whole crowd cheers and the man is lifted up above our shoulders. I cry out in joy and Ryan kisses me in delight. He picks me up and twirls me around. "She's dead!"
I breathe easily as the needle punctures my arm. He said it wouldn't take long to kill me, so I told him to push quickly. I stare up at his face as it begins to blur. I will finally be out of the wasteland prison. I whisper, "I love you." As everything...
