I saw my face printed on the front cover next to the dashing star of that new superhero blockbuster. You know the one, with the capes and the aliens. Well i don't know how or when, but somehow, we were snapped together at the beach and now i was in for a tidal wave of trouble. I just new it.
Her arms were warm and the fuzz off the jumper she wore scratched against my cheek. She smelt of perfume and cooking. I found myself thinking how no other comfort is quite like my mothers embrace.
It was a day i would rather forget. Everything that could have gone wrong had gone wrong. My boyfriend texted me he wasn't coming. My best friend turned up drunk and to top it off my dress has been covered with mud from the horse and cart. I hate weddings.
The colours, the sounds, the sweet spiced smells. The atmosphere. I remember little of what happened that christmas, but i can recall these few things with perfect clarity. All red and rich and warm.
