You are a mystery. The feel of your skin, the cool texture as you run your fingers down your face, the innocent blink of your eyes, your bashful smile, it is all a complex, inconceivable mystery. I reach out with uncertain hands to solve it, but I find only the impossibility of a dream dreamt too far.
She was hanging on the edge, a fact that no even she acknowledged. The edge between sanity and absolute, in layman's terms, craziness. The balance between her mind and her desires. But she had been pushed so close the the edge, she was beginning to wonder if it mattered, mattered at all. After all, push herself off her edge, she would lose everything, but gain herself.
He hated it. The romantic feel that crept into the hearts of lovebirds chirpping happily in their repulsive, disgusting bliss. He despised it, abhorred it even. For it was during the romantic season that her kiss, the feel of her soft skin pressed up against him, her breathy whispers came back to him the most. Disgusting.
"You are so dense," she snarled out, absolutely livid. He simply sat on the couch, lethargic, apathetic to all that she was accusing him of. "Did you hear me, absolutely and completely dense. I can't get anything through to you, you're so fucking dense." She demanded his attention, craved it. Through out immature name calling to get it. Dense. That was he was. She preferred to avoid 'uncaring'. Simply dense.
The exuberant child climbed the uncertain steps up the playground, holding onto the bars of the ladder for dear life. His mother absolute, downright refused to ever allow him on. He could never understand why. The excitement within him bubbled more intensely to the surface as he reached the top, a pudgy hand stretching for the monkey bars. And suddenly, he was falling, falling. Mommy!
The man shifted through the paperwork, the various items, a frown forming his face. Evidence? Could this be called evidence? They were reaching at wisps in the wind, feathers that had long since floated away. There was no denying it, despite the shifting eyes that constantly attempted to avoid the truth, there was no answer to the case. With a silent sigh, he flipped over the picture of the smiling girl, it was over.
