Since the dog had run out the kids hated her. They bothered her night and day about it. Eventually the verbal abuse escalated to physical violence. They shoved her into a closet and beat her to maintain the peace they said. It was only a precautionary measure to make sure she never did it again. Of course that's what they told her to keep her quiet, she took it silently and gratefully. The biggest mistake she ever made was buying them a new dog. They didn't want another dog.
